I have read the closed forum about System Restore failures but none of the suggestions worked for me! And before someone comments on the pros and cons of running a System Restore or suggests I uninstall the problem program instead - I have tried that 4 times! But the problem program iDrive does not remove everything whether I uninstall it from Programs and Features or by using its uninstall facility. And every time I re-install it, it fails to create files which were created when I first installed it! So my only hope IS to uninstall it again and run System Restore. BUT when I try to run System Restore it fails, saying it could have failed because I have an anti-virus program running. So I disabled NIS Smart Firewall and Anti-virus for one hour, to give me plenty of time to do a successful System Restore - but System Restore STILL fails.... My next idea is to uninstall NIS, leaving my settings and then try System Restore again. If it succeeds then, I will know for sure that it was Norton preventing it from running successfully for the past 2 hours. If it still fails to run successfully, the only thing I can think of doing then is to Refresh or Reset my Windows 8.1 computer - and we all know how frustratingly long winded THAT is! But if anyone has a solution that should actually work for me, I would appreciate you telling me. Thanks
