I have a problem with my Norton Internet Security 2010... After some time the system tray icon dissapears and if I try to start Norton again from the start menu it will not start, after a minute or so the support thingy comes up but doesnt help much.
Only thing I can do to get the Norton running again is to reboot the PC.
Im on Windows 7 home premium 64bit Norton version is 17.7.0.12
And you didn't have any other security software installed before NIS 2010?
Also, you said that the support window appears but is not of much help; what exactly does it say (you can also post a screenshot)? Is your computer behaving abnormally in any other way?
I've also asked a fellow-Guru to have a look at your thread :-)

As Yaso asked, are you having any other problems with your computer besides this? Did you get any strange pop-up's when browsing the web or anything? If so how did you respond to them?
Are you able to browse to security websites such as security.symantec.com, mcafee.com, etc?
Be sure and let us know what, if any security software (this includes anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc) you had before NIS? If any others were installed before, how did you remove them and did you do so before installing NIS? It is highly recommended to use a special removal tool to completely remove all remnants of the old security software before installing a new one.
A lot of good guidance has been provided so far. After rebooting and the tray icon is present, can you look in Norton's Security History and Show Symantec Error Reporting? Is anything listed there? If so, open the More Details and provide the Error Id value. Process name and version along with module name and version would be useful as well.
I have seen a scenario where this issue happens due to the presence of a threat. So let;s rule out it first. If you are not sure of any file that NPE tells you to remove, please post back the details. We will help you out.
I reinstalled Norton IS2010 and for now it works (I did before too but then the prob came back). I also ran NPE and it found a dll named webclnt.dll, seems to be a microsoft file when i google it?
Wecclnt.dll seems to be a legit file. No need to remove it. Glad to see that the issue is resolved by reinstalling the Norton product. I suggest you to run LiveUpdate and then run a full system scan.
