My Norton task bar is red and indicates a problem, but while I have repeatedly run both quick and full scans, the red bar does not clear. How do I go about clearing this error.

I switched to classic interface and it showed the same red error as before. I pressed the "fix it" button at least three times, each time beginning the quick scan feature. I also restarted the PC each time, but the red error bar continues to show in the Norton 360 window. The bar shows blue as the quick scan is running, but converts back to red as soon as the scan is completed.
Beside Device Security on the My Norton interface, click on Open to get to the classic interface. That may have more information about what is being detected. It may also have the Fix Now button I was asking about.
With the LiveUpdates, were you restarting the system? Restart, not shutdown and start up again if you have Windows Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here.
I have now done as you advised, updating and rerunning both quick and full scans and the task bar continues to show red. I have also run the Norton Power Eraser and nothing has been found on any of the scans. The only utility which shows red is the Device Security - all others are green or grey. The last few updates did not seem to add anything new. Can you recommend anything else?
Using a Windows Admin user account, when you open your 360 classic interface, do you see a Fix Now button?
Run LiveUpdate manually a few times, restarting as necessary, until no updates are available. See if that clears the warning?
