I need to be able to prevent scans some days.
I gather I am supposed to open NIS and open Tasks and Scans, but since my subscription is expired (I guess) this is grayed out.
Is there a way to at least turn off scheduled scans, even if I can't change when they are scheduled?
Thanks.
If you are intending to renew your Norton, I would recommend doing so as soon as possible. If you do not intend to renew quickly, then scanning your machine without the latest virus definitions is very nearly useless.
You could remove your product if it is an older version than 2009, and use the trial version for a short while, while you decide.
Does that mean I can’t temporarily turn off scans, I can only uninstall the software?
Yes, you can delete the schedules scans. Follow the steps given below.
1 Do one of the following depending on your version of Windows:
For Windows Vista: Click the Start button, and then click All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Task Scheduler.
If the User Account Control window appears, click Continue.
For Windows XP: Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Scheduled Tasks.
2 Do one of the following depending on your version of Windows:
For Windows Vista: Click Task Status. Under Active Tasks, double-click the Norton scan entry. In the right pane, under Actions for Selected Item, click Delete.
For Windows XP: Right-click the Norton scan entry and then click Delete.
3 In the confirmation dialog box that appears, click Yes.
4 Close the Windows Task Scheduler.
After performing this, how about you try Delphinium's suggestion. Download and install the 2009 trial version.
Vineeth--
On the main NIS2009 screen, in the bottom, it will show how many days are left in your subscription. If this is not expired or zero, then try logging in as an Administrator on your system and see if you can change the settings then. Otherwise you may have to uninstall the product.
Got it figured out. Thanks.
