Temporarily unused key

I was looking for good deals on multi-user packs of NIS 2012, which I’ve found. However, my current subscription is still active with nearly 90 days left. The question I have is if I were to purchase a multi-user pack, will that new key remain inactive until I’ve activated it online ~90 days from now (basically the same way purchasing a retail box works)? Thanks in advance

Hi amrobx,

A product key will only turn active when it is activated for the very first time during the installation of your Norton product. You can read more over here:

http://community.norton.com/t5/Announcements/Subscription-Clarification/m-p/23245

Also: if you want to renew your current subscription with a new product key, then you will lose the days from your previous subscription (so in your case, if you were to use your new product key to renew Norton now, then you would lose your 90 days). For this reason, wait until a day before your subscription expires and then type in your new product key. Do not let your subscription expire altogether, otherwise Norton will turn itself off and become inactive.

Hi amrobx,

None of my business but do you in fact have  MBAM Pro & SAS Pro both installed along with NIS?  If so hopefully you have the real-time functions disabled in both of them in order to avoid conflicts.

Yes, I’ve disabled any real-time protection. I itilize the “pro” versions for the automatic update and scan scheduling features.
