Yesterday my Norton stopped working. Could not even open it. I Googled Norton support and came up with this number: 1-855-472-9057. Called it, got at times 4 different men with I think heavy accents from India "helping" me. They said they were contracted by Norton for product support. They wanted to take control of my computer but the program they were trying to use couldn't connect. Kept saying "waiting for technician." After more than an hour, and being disconnected twice then they called me back, they told me I had to pay them $129 for some additional software that they would install on my computer to "protect me from the bugsess" that had infected it. I hung up and did a restore. Backed up about 6 months or so. My laptop is apparently working fine again although I am holding my breath thinking there is probably something hiding that will resurface soon. I've ran every scan I can find and it is coming up clean. I just want to say that if this is the best support that Norton can offer, I would rather use some other anti-virus/security brand. The guys I spoke with were about as unprofessional as any I have ever dealt with and in the end didn't help me at all. I am on low income and can't afford a new computer so when friends at the VA got this one for me (a very nice Sony "F" series) I have been very careful using it trying to keep it from harm. This has left me feeling that Norton support is just a big scam.
