I understand your comments about monitoring artwork - I hadn't thought of that aspect.
No big deal, the forums are great and I'll be visiting regularly.
Much higher priority IMO for the ability to insert an image and add attachments to messages without having to go and set up a server ourselves. I’ve seen elsewhere the enormous difference this makes in technical support, much to the surprise of everyone used to text only messages.
I want to thank Norton / Symantec for providing the community discussion forums. I have been a long time customer and I am glad to see this.
I have participated in other companies (Adobe, Microsoft, On2) user to user forums and have always found them to be quite useful. Often I get better or clearer explanations from the users than from the product help section or manual. The same applies to my experience so far with the Norton Forums.
The input and experience from a vast number of product users gives me “real-world” advice and information. I also appreciate that Symantec employees cruise the forums and give input where needed. Keep up the good work!
My only suggestion is rather trivial: What is the possibility that users can post there own personally generated icons? Just provide us with the dimensions and file size limits. Could make for some interesting creativity amongst all the tech talk.

Hi huwyngr,
There is no need to set up a server yourself. You can utilize any of the free image hosting services such as imageshack.com, photobucket.com, flickr.com. I'll see if I can get a "how to post images sticky" up in the next few days.

My terminology may have been misleading but I don't need free image hosting services for anything else I do, support-wise or personal, and I have no intention of opening up such an account, which is what I called setting up a server.
Sorry to be bolshie but I think it is up to Norton to do this just like the other on-line places do -- I can name names if it helps <s>
Also the advantage of attachments over inserted images is that you don't have to use bandwidth to download them unless you specifically need to see them and if the broadband people start limiting and charging as they have started to do then that also is going to matter.

It's probable that we will implement this feature in the future AND that it will be reward based. In other words, established regular posters that meet preset criteria will receive a few extra forum privileges, the personal icon being one of those.
Personal icons are an issue that's much more complex and difficult than it appears on the surface. While most people would choose to use the personal icon in an acceptable manner, there are others that would attempt to put unacceptable content as their icon. Moderating these visual images is actually more difficult than moderating the written word, like an artwork, interpretation can be very subjective. That's to say what the user posting the icon feels is appropriate by another users standards may be offensive.
Thanks for the "Thank You" message.
