Well, I decided to just give up on this. I used partition magic, deleted the partition, made two new ones from the resulting free amount of data. One to put stuff on and one to back it up. Although there is a problem I will put here (since it is a Norton product that caused it). I reinstalled firefox (it had my old settings) I couldn't access any webpage. I uninstalled using add/remove programs. Reinstalled, still doesn't work. Reinstalled Ad-Aware after doing add/remove, I can't update it. I have mirc, it can't connect to any server (it was on the affected partition). I reinstalled this mmorpg, it can't reach the patcher. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry you did not get any direct help on PM8 but Symantec do not plan any further versions so I guess they are focussed in other areas. I was going to post a warning that it is not compatible with VISTA (MS made a modification to the fundemental file structure in VISTA that upsets PM8 -- although I have installed VISTA on a partition created by PM8 I would not try to modify one that has VISTA installed since installing VISTA changes the file structure after you make the partition.

Do you have any other Norton applications installed? I see there are conflicts between some versions and FF3 but I'm not uptodate on this -- do a search here on Firefox FF and see what comes up. The search engine here is good.

Well it seems like any program on my old E partition cannot access the internet. So I’ll just start fresh with my entire drive, maybe install Linux instead of Windows for a change of flavors (I know I can duel boot and I might do that, but Linux will probably be my first OS I’ll put on)

Good luck! I can’t picture your setup. I hope everything you need works with Linux – does PM8?

I have decided I’m duel booting between windows and ubuntu (linux). I simply don’t know enough about linux to make the change… for now. But maybe in a few years I might go fully to linux, I want to test out the waters. Thanks for your responses!

I once had 3 partitions

C: (system)

E: (everything else)

F: (Where I was planning to put Linux)

I never put Linux and could of used the extra gigabytes. So I got rid of the F partition and transferred the bytes to the C partition. Mid transfer I stopped it. I rebooted my computer and tried to go onto firefox (which was in my E drive) when it can't open. I tried other icons, mostly for games and it wouldn't work. I looked in my computer and the E drive was no longer there! I went into PM 8.0 and saw the E drive as PqRP. I read up on it and found the PTEDIT. I went and made my drive FAT32 using that (although I'll have to try NTFS, but I thought it was FAT32). The drive appeared on my computer when I to my computer when I booted to the harddrive, when I double clicked on it it said if I wanted to format it. In properties it was RAW. I went into PM 8.0 and tried to convert it but everything was grayed out (except the Logical partition which is was always). I tried to get data off with Norton Ghost 10.0 and it didn't see any partitions.

Please help! My games and such are on the drive, I am ready to format it and lose everything if it comes down to that.

Here is my system specs:

 Windows XP Professional

2 GB Ram

8800 GT Nividia

Intel duo core 2.6 GHZ

Norton anti virus (2008 I think)

I'm up to date with Microsoft updates

Here are some updates on my situation.

I tried to use norton ghost while in FAT32, it couldn't see my E partition, it couldn't even see my C partition!

I messed around with this one program but it didn't seem to help (unless I'm using it wrong) its open source called test disk.

I put my E partition back to C3 via the PTEDIT after trying to find NTFS on the list of options to turn it to but it wasn't there.

I got advice from someone to take my Windows XP CD and repair my E partition with it, I will save this as a second to last resort due to my doubts in using it (my last resort is just formatting).

I would really appreciate any help if there is someone to help me and give me directions or a link to a place.

I would prefer not to format it and lose everything.

Thank You for any help! I will keep on looking for solutions, but if a Norton guy or someone who knows alot about their products could help me out it would be very appreciated.
