The " Delicious disaster "

Anyone out there who has ever used the " Delicious " bookmarks as their bookmark manager , will now be aware of the total ruination of a perfectly good tool that has fallen foul of the " If it aint' broken ...Don't break it tyin' to fix it " syndrome !

Having used this handy bookmark system for years without any negative issues ....I logged in a few days ago to retreive a "bookmarked " page for some info I needed to revise ...and found a real mess up of all my links and saved data !

I'd been busy with other things and wasn't aware of the scale of anger that was being directed at the " new boys " who were now handling the Delicious set up , so when I logged in I got a nasty surprise !

Firstly , I saw a load of bookmarks under the " My bookmarks " tab ....that were not mine at all ...but just a load of links that belonged to someone else !! ....

I decided to contact " Support " for detailed info on what was going on .....Nothing ...just a "Bad Gateway " error message !

Try again ......Still total chaos....

Now they advise my password and email are invalid ......"Please try again " they advise :smileymad:!

After that ...a completely different page layout appeared and contained links that had no bearing on my saved material whatsoever ! Alarm bells now ringing :smileysad: !

By now ...I am thinking "Hijack " ...browser redirects .....So I run a scan with NIS and all is well ! Then I ran " GMER " and "HijackThis" and spend time checking the logs .....Nothing !

Then I googled " Delicious bookmarks ....any Problems " ?etc; .... and found there has been a whole load of "aggro" regarding the site ....see here.....

Just shows what can happen to a perfectly good piece of software when it gets into the hands of the "tinkerers " who haven't a clue eh ?

Needless to say...my bookmarks are now in the care of " Diigo " ...so I'll see how this handles my bookmark needs ?

" Delicious"  has mutated  into " Unpallatable " :smileywink:!
