The Norton Extension for Safari cannot communicate with the Norton Antivirus application

I have a macbook pro running Sierra OS.  Starting about couple days ago, I have been getting an error in my Safari browser.  

Please advise on how to get this resolved.

Have you restarted your computer?

Have you run LiveUpdate manually a few times, restarting as necessary, until no updates are available?
