The Norton extension for Safari cannot communicate with the Norton Security application.

Just installed Norton Security 7 on my Mac OS X 10.11.x computer and am getting the error "The Norton extension for XXXXXX cannot communicate with the Norton Security application."  It's happening in Firefox v.42 and in Safari 9.0.1. The XXXXXX in the message reflects whichever browser I'm running. Google Chrome Version 46.0.2490.80 (64-bit) doesn't give me the error but shows a ? in a square for the Norton icon on the navigation bar and doesn't appear to be working either.

Is this a known issue?
