Hi, I have read other relating posts but unfortunately the solutions have stopped short of assisting me solve my problem.
I have set up Norton Family on my sons laptop. Every time he logs onto his account I get the email stating 'The Norton Family browser plug-in was unexpectedly turned off'. I have checked his browser (IE) in his account and all Norton plug-ins are enabled. The monitoring seems to be working fine but I keep getting this message every time he logs on, and sometimes whilst he is logged on.
Can you please try to log onto the PC as the child and see if you get the message too?
If the Norton Family plug-in is disabled manually and then you close the current IE browser, when you reopen another IE browser, the Norton Family plug-in shows as enabled again. The reason I mention these is I want to make sure you check the current browser, not a new browser.
I also logged into my sons account...opened browser....disabled all norton add ons manually....closed browser....opened another browser.....all norton add on's were still disabled.
I rebooted pc....logged into my sons account again and opened browser and all norton add on's still disabled.
I then enabled all add on's and rebooted pc again & logged into sons account and still got message emailed to me.
Thanks for the additional information. Does it take relatively long time to reboot the PC? If so, it's possible when Norton Family starts after the reboot and looks for the plug-in and it's not available yet.
I'm having some problems with Norton Family emailing my ticketing system.
Here's what I have tried to do to resolve Norton Family from emailing this notification:
Used gpedit.msc to not allow user's to disable add-ons. No Luck....
When the Manage Add-Ons notification pops up, I've reset the threshold to 10.00 seconds and rebooted. No Luck
Uninstalled and re-downloaded the NF to each pc manually. No Luck.
The computers appear to be sending the notification during the boot up process. I get the notifications in my ticketing system before a user even logs onto the computer which tells me this is not profile specific.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated....
The program still blocks websites even you get the message. The message says the add-on for Norton Family is disabled. When the program detects the add-on is disabled, it sends an alert notification to the parent. Please check the browser that your child uses to see if the add-on for Norton Family is enabled. You can find it by clicking Tools -> Manage Add-ons in IE if IE is being used.
I forgot to put that in my original posting...lol. The Norton Family BHO Add-On is enabled. From what I am seeing with these computers, when the computer is booting up (before we even get to the login screen), Norton Family sends the alert. When I login to the computers, the Add-On is already enabled.
Boot up time is pretty normal. I notice when I boot the pc's with Norton Family installed, it boots fine and when I log in it does say Norton Family is enabled and monitoring the account however by the time the account is logged in, the computer has already sent a notification that the plug-in was temporarily disabled and will be re-enabled in 5 minutes...
