Hi,
I'm getting the "Norton Family Servers are temporarily unavailable" error again.
This has to be a bug, and this has been going on for a very long time, and I wish you guys would fix it already.
Why am I sure it's a bug?
Because it always seems to be associated with the "Name your Device" screen. But don't get me started about that. Some background, if I may.....
In the early days of Norton Family, the device was always listed on the Web site under its given NetBIOS name.
Then you guys started generating nonsense names like (username)-Windows7-5, which makes troubleshooting a problem very difficult if you have more than 2 PC's. Because there doesn't seem to be a way to tell from the Norton Family web site exactly which PC it is referring to. And which PC has the problem.
Then it went back to using the NetBIOS name again... most of the time. Occasionally it will still generate a nonsense name. So much for computers being predictable. I wish you guys would make up your minds.
And very rarely, maybe 1 out of 30 times, it will put up a "Name your Device" screen, with the NetBIOS name filled in. Oh joy!
The problem is, the Name your Device screen rarely works. Most of the time, it will then get the dreaded "Norton servers are temporarily unavailable" error when you click Save.
This is why I feel that the "Name your Device" screen and the "temporarily unavailable" error are related, and that this is a bug.
I will private you the account.
Thanks
