I’m using Firefox 3.5.6 and before I upgraded from NIS 2009 to NIS 2010 today, I was able to see the safe web icons displayed beside the different web sites when I used to Google to search. However I’m no longer to see all that icons after doing the upgrade this morning, can anybody please help me solve this problem. I’m using Windows XP.
Thanks Yaso. My product key is for NIS 2009 and I did the upgrade via my Norton Account. So does it mean I can only reinstall NIS 2009 after the uninstall? And if I reinstall NIS 2009 again and do the upgrade to 2010 in the same way as I used to earlier today I might have the same problem again? Your further advice is appreciated. I’m a total computer no-brainer.

Hi littlevampire
After you uninstall as instructed above, you can download the NIS 2010 version and just use your product key from your Nis 2009 version. You do not have to reinstall NIS 2009 again.
littlevampire:
You will be able to download and install 2010, which is the link Yaso gave you. You will be able to activate it using your current 2009 key.
It should solve the problem, however, please advise if you checked your settings in the Norton toolbar to make sure that safe web is enabled. Also check the settings in Norton. You may need to close and open Firefox to see if the settings take effect, and/or do another reboot of your machine to make sure that the engines are fully changed from 2009 to 2010.
This might solve the issue prior to the more involved uninstall, reinstall.

Hi littlevampire,
As the other posters have written and I have indicated in my instructions, you can install NIS 2010 directly without having to reinstall NIS 2009 and then upgrade to NIS 2010 - your NIS 2009 key and number of subscription days should be picked up automatically by NIS 2010 after installation. Customers who are using NIS 2006 or later can upgrade for free to NIS 2010 if they have an active subscription to NIS 2006 or later :-)
We have had posters with the same issue you have observed - it was solved after a clean reinstallation of NIS 2010.
Please tell us how it goes :-)
Are you searching from the main Google web page or from the “search bar” (usually in the upper right hand corner)? Some searches from the Google web page have been known to come up this way while the searches from the “search bar” are fine. Google changes the application code for searching (from the main Google page) every now and then and this can interfere with web validation engines.
Thank you all; I'm so impressed with all your help. I'll try doing the uninstall/reinstall thing later today or tomorrow & tell you if it succeeds.
To reply to delphinium and dbrisendine, I have got the Norton Safe Web enabled, settings checked, closed Firefox & rebooted the PC for several times but to no avail. I used the search bar but the safety rating icons still only show up when I use the Norton Safe Search toolbar.
Okay, please keep us posted, littlevampire
Hi Yaso, sorry for another question.
Do you think I can just remove my current NIS2010 via Windows control panel without having to download the removal tool for uninstall? Then I'll go straight to www.norton.com/nis10 to do the new download.
NIS2010 is the only internet security product running on my PC.
Hi littlevampire,
Yes, you can try removing NIS 2010 via the control panel instead of using the removal tool. You can save the NIS 2010 installation package to your computer before uninstalling your current NIS 2010, that way you don't have to go on the internet without any protection to fetch the fresh NIS 2010 installation package.
Wow Yaso you’re superfast. Thanks.
Bingo! Problem fixed.
Did uninstall via control panel & used Yaso's link to reinstall 2010.
Thanks for all & wish all of you a Happy 2010.
Glad it worked, littlevampire, and happy New Year to you, too :-D
