The Norton startup window opens.

Every time I start my computer, the Norton startup window opens on my desktop.

I don’t want to stop Norton from starting altogether, but I’d like it to start minimized.

This bug, where the Norton window opens automatically, has been present since version 26.6.

It occurs frequently, not always immediately after PC startup.

There are also days when it doesn’t happen.

It’s unclear if focus is being stolen, but it’s very annoying.

(Whether focus is being stolen is currently under investigation.)

OS startup settings are irrelevant.

Norton needs to run in the background to maintain security.

The Norton window opening automatically is a problem.

Developers, please investigate and fix this bug immediately.

起動するたびに、デスクトップにノートンの起動ウィンドウが開きます。
ノートンの起動自体を止めたいわけではありませんが、最小化された状態で起動させたいです。

勝手にNortonウインドウが開くバグはVer26.6から発生しています。
発生タイミングは度々でPC起動直後ではない時もあります。
発生しない日もあります。

フォーカスが奪われる場合は不明ですが、とても不快です。
（フォーカスが奪われるか？は検証中です）

OSのスタートアップ設定は関係はありません。
Nortonはバックグラウンドで起動してセュリティを守らないとなりません。

勝手にNortonウインドウが開くのは困ります。
開発者は即確認をして不具合の修正して下さい。

@SEKIRAM Please post a screenshot of what you are seeing for review. Currently I am on the latest version of Norton on both Windows 10 and 11 Pro. This issue hasn’t presented itself my side as of this posting.

• What is your OS its version and build?
• What is your version of Norton as installed?
• Do you by chance have boot scan enabled in your Norton settings?

このバグは利用者にとても厄介です。
メニュー画面が突然に表示されて、邪魔をする。

例えば、
ゲームプレイ中、突然にメニュー画面が出て被害が起きる。
会議のプレゼンテーション中、突然にメニュー画面が出て被害が起きる。
あらゆるシチュエーションで被害が大きいです。
Ver26.6のパッチをあてるまでは被害はありません。
早急にバグの修正を求めます。

This bug is extremely annoying for users.

The menu screen suddenly appears and is disruptive.

For example,

The menu screen suddenly appears during gameplay, causing problems.

The menu screen suddenly appears during a presentation, causing problems.

The problems are significant in all situations.

There are no problems until the Ver26.6 patch is applied.

We urgently request a bug fix.

Thank you for the informational posts and screenshots. Looking at your screenshot and comparing to what I see in my main UI dialog, you appear to have at least one scan nagging. It also appears that the issue is Norton is bugging users to perform a Smart Scan, which will typically lead to a sell-up to fix. Please check these settings your side:

Run a repair scan to see what if anything different results are given. Make sure you reboot after the scan.

I tried that, but it still starts up automatically.
I also did a clean reinstall of Norton, but it still starts up automatically.
Norton developers, please address this immediately; it steals focus.
It even steals the screen; this is a terrible situation.

Did you use the remover tool when you removed Norton? If that didn’t work support will be your best option.

Performing the relevant remover (clean install) does not resolve the bug.

Chat support is completely unavailable. (Bugs mentioned in other threads)

Phone support is unhelpful as it involves inexperienced staff.

Nothing can be done.

The only thing we can do is ask the developers to see this thread and request a swift fix. This issue has been occurring since version 26.6.

If a fix cannot be implemented quickly, please provide a service to roll back to a previous version.

However, we cannot trust this unless the developers have seen this thread and indicated their intention to address the issue.

As soon as the developers see this thread, they will contact the forum and request an immediate fix.

I’ve identified one possible cause. When the PC starts up and I’m not using a secure VPN, a pop-up window appears. If I ignore it without selecting “Yes, OK,” the pop-up window disappears, and then the Norton menu screen automatically launches. I don’t use a secure VPN because I play online games.

This is just one example of a possible bug. Other factors can also cause the menu screen to launch automatically.

Regardless of the cause, the menu screen launching automatically is a bug. The menu screen pops up in the center of the screen and steals focus.

(Pop-ups due to virus infections are normal.)

I demand an immediate bug fix!

１つの発生原因が突き止めました。PC起動時にセキュアVPNの利用をしてないときPOPウインドウが出ます、「はい、OK」の選択をしないで放置するとPOPウインドウは消えます、その次にNortonのメニュー画面が勝手に起動するようになった。私はオンラインゲームをプレイするためセキュアVPNを利用していません。

これはバグの要因の1例です。他の要因でメニュー画面が勝手に起動するケースもあります。

どの要因でもメニュー画面が勝手に起動するのはバグです。メニュー画面が中央にPOPしてフォーカスも奪われます。
（ウイルス感染に伴うPOPは正常）

早急のバグ修正を求めます！

It also happens when it’s not a VPN POP window.

Addendum: Even after clicking “Yes, OK” for the VPN POP, the startup screen still appears automatically.

There is no way to resolve this.

This issue did not exist in versions prior to 26.6.
（This issue also occurs in version 26.6.11052.）

We request an immediate bug fix.

Unfortunately, the Norton support center (chat support) is currently unavailable due to an error (as I informed them via official phone support).
The phone support representative is also inexperienced and unable to help.

The only remaining option is to hope that a Norton developer will see this on the forum and provide assistance.

I installed Norton a few days ago, and it does the same for me. I have silenced all notifications but it still does it. Not on every Windows startup, but occasionally. Every morning it does it when I turn on my computer after it has been off for the night.

I use Windows 11 Pro 25H2 26200.8655

Norton latest version 26.6.11052

Boot scan is disabled

It is not a “big” issue, but it would be nice to see it fixed anyway. Thank you.

@Frns Are you aware that, your Windows 11 install is not the latest? Windows 11 Pro 25H2 26200.8655 is one release behind the current 26200.8737 release. Is there a reason for delaying that update as it may be a part of the issue?

My OS is version 26200.8737, and the issue occurs even with the latest version, so the OS version doesn’t seem to be the issue. I always update to the latest version daily.

This is clearly a bug that has been present since Norton 26.6.

This morning, I was prompted to turn off notifications for various settings via an official email, which also seems unnatural.

Will security be guaranteed if notifications are turned off?

It seems that all users should have to adjust their settings, just like the bug itself.

The startup bug shouldn’t occur with the default settings (it didn’t exist until version 26.6).

I’ll say it again: the developers must immediately investigate and implement a proper fix.

明らかにNorton26.6から発生してるバグです。

明朝、色々な設定の通知OFFを公式メールから促されましたが、それも不自然です。
通知をOFFにしたらセキュリティは担保されるのでしょうか？
全利用者が設定をしなければならないのはバグ同様でしょう。
本来はデフォルト設定で起動バグは起こりません
（Ver26.6まではありませんでした）

Ultimately you may be best to try contacting Japan support and ask them to try getting things rolling for this issue from your geo region. I have escalated the issue twice, unfortunately we never get a timeline for when nor if a particular issue is corrected. That usually happens with a Norton person stepping into the thread with a statement or included in a release announcement. Here is something you can have a look at on your end.

These are the setting for Norton within the Windows Task Scheduler. Have a look at what is there on your install and review the startup triggers for each one. You may be able to find the one that is causing the issue. If so please post that here for other to review as well if you’d be so kind.
