Think my computer may be infected- Trojan.Tracur?

I'm experiencing a slowing running compter.  When I seach in Bing and open a new window, sometimes I am taen some where completely different.  When I open a link in a new window, sometimes it gos through virglink.com or servads.com.  Sometimes my computer will "lose visual information" (Paraphrase) and recover, then crash. While web browsing, some random phrases will be hyperlinked to ads.

I did a system scan and Trojan.Tracur was found and removed, but I'm still experiencing the same problems.

Also, I find that Norton isn't updating the way I would've imagined it should.  I've had to manually download newer versions of Norton twice this year.  (A few months earlier and then again tonight).

Is there a way to "fix" my computer??

reformat and reinstall windows.  or do a factory restore.      thats what i had to do.   my parents pc got so infected was really  unuseable probably  because they are on an old p4 win xp machine.   after the reformat their pc is running superb like brand new.   once i started noticing my pc also starting to get bad i forced them to reformat....backed up their data and used the windows disc....I formatted mine too and it really improved my performance.

all the backups are prolly infected though....and i inserted my mp3 player back into the pc to copy over some music.  I'm prolly infected again lmao.     malwarebytes.....norton......never find this one though.

I think alot of people were hit extra hard this season.    I believe there are viruses that lay dormant on your pc maybe for years until they are activated and try to crippled or fry your pc on christmas.   Hackers are lowlife losers.     it has happened to me in the past.....these viruses become active during november to january.  and is always a scary time for pc users.

I am now finished with this thread even though I have infected my system with toughrt malware and cleaned other users systems with tougher infections.

Cooloutac has taken over even though they have no idea, but that is the way it goes.  I wonder what the user would do with malware that survives reformatting.

Good Luck

Quads

why don't you tell us.  isn't that what i was asking?  i'm starting to wonder if norton is now useless for 2013.     I switched back to norton in 2009 after hating it for being bloatware for years.....I thought it was phenomenal...even detected my fios network boxes properly  which no other firewall did at the time.....in 2010 norton even took my advice and added info the main info history for stealth blocked ports.   now i don't even see that feature.....i get no replies or getting replies like yours with my issues this december..  the idle scans are fkn crippling hdss there is so much disk activity its ridiculous!  i've seen numerous users complain about this......and after my machines got crippled.  its starting to make me wonder if  it is time to switch suites again.   i got infected anyways...and it would be hard to tell which broke my hdd.  norton or the virus...lmao.

I also keep asking if its normal for norton to show cpu usage in the performance monitor when idle.....but shows no activity when clicking the mouse over the spikes.  only started noticing this with 2013.    and thats a serious fk up!

and this facebook thing?  people are getting hacked everyday through facebook.  facebook is the most dangerous site on the web right now.  and i thought NIS was gonna have extra facebook protection?     or is just a fkn option to share pages on the toolbar  lmao.

No you were giving the user advice so the thread is now yours,  It has been known for ages malware that survives refprmatting, including one user who installed fresh Windows 3 times, still infected.

That is why malware removal members find ways to remove infections and repairing parts of Windows if required, including Rootkits, Bootkits, Viruses (Ramnit, Virut) and even multi infections.

I am not touching the system on this thread now another user has taken over.

Quads

your a baby.

I think norton users got hit the hardest this december.   And between you and this flaky 2013 version......i'm convinced now to switch suites when my subscription runs out.

norton community went downhill.  time to switch suites.    People that hack other people for the sakes of "learning" and "improving"  are scumbags.   pathological liars  who get joy at the expense of others.  If they were legit they would do things in a closed enviornment and not effect  innocent people.

I dont' care who you work for or who you are.  you fake as a 3 dollar bill.

no   norton communtiy  did not go down hill  your the one that enter fear with Quads trying too help  this ueser and he/she got on you for it    you this need too learn not too enter fear in fourms   like this one

am this trying too say if you see Quads helping a user re move some in dont enter  it  or post  a commet or things like this will happen

enter fear?   what?     this guy wants his windows working again.   hes not here as a guinea pig so quad can learn about the virus.  I guess thats why he got so upset.  Thats a hacker mentality.   learning at the expense of others.

I even said in my original post that formatting the pc  might not get rid of a virus that bad.  If you guys actually read it.   It was only a suggestion.  maybe the guy has too much data to back up and would rather not and still needs quads help.

but if his windows is badly corrupted he will have to reinstall it anyways wouldn't he?  and he could still help quad with his research afterwards if the virus is still there.  maybe even more effectively.  the fact quad will not help him now is telling to me.

to me that guy quad is suspicious now.  and so are these forums.

no this gut my not have too reinstall  do you evere read the topic of the fourm? i guss not it says this guy may be infected  with a trojan  and quad was going too help this guy  too re move  it   but you came a long and haveing too enter fear in this fourm that  quads was going too help this user on  re installing  windows will not get rid of a torjan in fac it could make  marh wors  and all so i dont think this user wants too re store  too out of the boxs any ways

I don't treat peoples systems as a guinea pig , that is stupidity and dangerous to their data, If I want to try something new I infect my own system, including when I infect with multiples.

You have been around since 2009, so would have seen the 100's of systems I have cleaned (or at least some of them) from TDL2 and above, zeroaccess, Pihar, MaxSS, FakeAV's, FakePolice (aka, Ransomlock) Virut, Ramnit and it goes on.  I makes sure the whole system is cleaned,  Including what would have survived a Reformat.

I also don't have a hacker mentality

Then again you would not understand as you have no idea about malware at all, " might not get rid of a virus that bad" hahahaha Tracur (on its own) is not that bad, it does not even patch.

"but if his windows is badly corrupted he will have to reinstall it anyways wouldn't he?  and he could still help quad with his research afterwards if the virus is still there.  maybe even more effectively.  the fact quad will not help him now is telling to me." How many users systems have I cleaned (where they have not played first) have they had to then reformat and reinstall  even the system I have fixed where Windows would not startup and files were missing from using NPE and I fixed that.

But then again you wouldn't understand,  like the fact you are not understand, that I am not now touching the system, you stepped in.  Oh and now look at the thread.

This is why malware removal boards are protected on the likes of Bleeping Computer.

At least the important people, like Symantec know how far I can go to fix a system, and what I can remove,  You don't need to.

Okay.  I'm sorry it took me so long to get back to you.  I know you have a life.  (I had to do some research to make sure I was on a proper site.  I can't afford another computer.)  Should I print out the instructions before I start the "procedure"?

I am sorry, but I don't think QUADS will return!  You might try here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/!  QUADS stops helping when someone else steps in!

Why???  It's not MY fault whoever decided to start talking....

Hi Abbie,

These are some Removal Forums you can try. Do not run any tools or programs of any type trying to fix the problem yourself. Select one forum and register. Read any and all information the forum provides.

Post your issue per the forums instructions. The person you start with, stay with that person and finish with that person. Follow their instructions to the letter.

It was not your fault, it was Cooloutac. Cooloutac knows QUADS's rules, so Cooloutac did it out of spite and knows better!   After doing some research on how QUADS and others of his kind work, I am beginning to understand his strict rules!
