Been reading these forums for the past three weeks, and have noticed that it's actual Symantec employees that answer questions, which is very good, as most forums only have moderators which then pass questions onto tech advisors behind the scenes.
So i thought i'd register and ask some questions regarding nis2009 before i purchase a copy.
1). It's apparent from numerous reviews, threads, user reviews that I've read that nis09 has a very strong proactive real time detection and prevention methods in place. Whilst this is good, if said methods are little too aggressive it can hamper daily operation. My question is how is nis09 when it comes to new operations, thinks like running new executables, and running software types that are good but may not be known to nis09 as trusted apps (eg browser like firefox, other malware scanners, or things that adjust system/hardware properties in real-time such as overcooking tools), and most importantly of all, and this is the main one I'm concerned about, is, installation operations, such as when your installing games, may of which now utilize various resources in their setup procedure, and also use secur-rom, which has cause no end of problems for me in the past with other antivirus suite.
2). I understand that SONAR is not supported on a 64bit platform in nis09, does this mean that the real-time on access protection of nis09 is also too limited on a 64bit platform ?
Thanks, Dave.
