I was given no chance to reply. I have bought a 12 month sub and they are forcing me to hand over my bank details or I can not be able to access the product I have already bought.

Hello @user12668
Care to share…are you United States?
Care to share…“bought a year sub already” via norton.com or reputable retail?

===============================

Download and install your Norton device security here
Download your Norton product purchased from a retail store here

================================

While it may seem like you’re being “forced,” this requirement is part of Norton’s mandatory enrollment in their Automatic Renewal Service for all new subscriptions, including those purchased from retail stores.

Why this is happening
Norton’s current policy requires users to provide a payment method (credit card, debit card, or PayPal) and billing address before they can activate a pre-paid product key. This is intended to ensure “continuous protection” by automatically charging you for the next year when your current 12-month term ends.

How to access your product without permanent risk
You can bypass the long-term billing requirement by following these steps immediately after activation:

Provide the details to activate: Complete the setup at the Norton Setup page by entering your product key and providing the requested billing info.
Turn off Auto-Renewal: Once the software is active, log into your Norton Account. Go to the My Subscriptions tab and select Turn Off Auto-Renewal next to your active plan.
Delete your billing profile: After disabling auto-renewal, navigate to the Billing Information section of your account and delete your saved payment method.

  • Note: You will still have full access to the 12 months you already paid for even after removing this information.

Refund Options
If you do not wish to provide your bank details at all, you are entitled to a refund if you purchased the product recently:

  • Annual Subscriptions: Eligible for a full refund if requested within 60 days of purchase.

Then they should have made that clear when i was sold the 12 months sub, anyway I managed to get someone at Norton to buy pass my card info after 7 hours the product was not any use windows defender dose the exact same thing if you want a vpn and dark web scanning then £80+ might be worth it for evrerything else windows defender does it without thrfeats your computer is about to be taken over by some scammer on the dark web who knows all your details and hes going to steel your life.

I wish i listened to john mcafee now when he said the first thing to do with any device is look to see if it has “Mcafee” installed if so the first thing to do is unistall it. I cant remember what else he said but yeah I did the same after installing norton.

Laptops direct UK they are very reputable it was a digital download for £9.97 as a deal with the laptop. heres the kicker its under a 10er its not a lot of money but suprise you got to add your bank card or you just might “forget” you are unprotected so we will decide for you because you know you cant be trusted so let us take care of it because we are thoughtful like that.

This is becoming the normal now with these VPN sites £2.99 add your card cancel any time yeah just try its hidden right at the bottom of the page jump through hoops and then the cash is still taken its a scam and the law needs to be informed whats going on.

if Norton is so good give me 12 months free test and ill pay you after the 12 months see how that sounds while you are at it give me Nortons back details for good mesure.

Norton 360 Deluxe Gaming Internet Security with VPN 3 Devices 12 Month Subscription.

yeah I should have got the magnifying glass out zoomed in ignoring the why buy me bit on the right that looks so good to be true when lets be honest here they could have put that very crucial bit of info that you so kindly pointed out “haha we got you” makes everything alright dosnt it? it’s a scam offer a low price- the hook enter your bank details -the bite - next year the catch - you forgot or couldent find how to cancel your card because the website hides it.

Thanks for pointing out how unethnical and deceiving Norton really is “look” how we got you you are justifying it small print haha who reads that right and for the ones that do A.I well they missed it to because now its on the blurry thing that no one can see.

“Small print” scams involve

hiding costly terms, sneaky subscriptions, or fake charges within the fine print of a contract or agreement to trick users into paying, often for “free” trials or services. Common examples include hidden monthly fees after a free trial, bogus directory invoices, or inflated car rental charges.

Common “Small Print” Scam Tactics

  • Hidden Subscription Charges: Offers for “free” samples or low-cost trials (e.g., £2 for postage) that actually lock you into a recurring monthly fee (e.g., £45/month) if you do not cancel within a very short timeframe.

Feels like your gripe is with laptopsdirect.co.uk

No my gripe is with Norton they are know for this hiding costly terms, sneaky subscriptions, or fake charges within the fine print of a contract or agreement to trick users into paying, often for “free” trials or services

Maybe, try Norton pages for legalese minutia

IMO ~ still feels like your gripe is with lacking laptopsdirect.co.uk presentation/documentation/legalese minutia.

Norton is doing the same in every online shop on the internet its not making it clear that you need to give your bank details when you sign up. hence the small introductory price the (hook) someones fallen for it so they give the card details (the catch) next year the bite 30 days before the sub ends they re new hoping the person does not or can not find the auto renew / cancel sub after the 11 of the promised 12 months. its a scam.

iv un installed it and advise anyone to do the same lucky i was only done for £9.97 and not 80+ quid in 11 months time.

on top of that im bombarded with fake security alerts telling me i have things wrong with my computer really funny the only thing i installed on a brand new computer was Norton so it found its won spyware, Trojans, keyloggers, Rats and controls ect some 2000+ it told me i had brand new laptop the only thing installed on it was Norton.

Norton Community members urge users to shop $ at reputable online/retail vendors.
for example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/stores/Norton/page/2ED5690E-3522-4C92-833C-4C48B4E182CA

why are you replying now an hour after i did a fresh install on my laptop and becuase i un installed Norton? you have no control over my computer any more because i got rid of the Norton ghost files hidden in the registry you are no different than the websites that say you have been infected click here..

example google this norton 360 game and see the 100s of adverts with blurry T&S you cant see unless you zoom in

then what’s your gripe?

=====================================

~ still feels like your gripe is with laptopsdirect.co.uk

maybe, next time try…for example: here

you came back telling me my gripe is with laptops direct Im telling you Norton is a scamming company i have 20/20 vision that what you are showing me is zoomed in to the max and its still unclear its designed mislead people.

Then whats my gripe I paid for a service that shows fake threats that dont exist on my laptop trying to scare me in to buying another Norton product thats my gripe with Norton. maybe next time i know someone i tell them on reditt what a sacm norton is and to use the free much better one that come with windows the one that norton turns bvcnbv off leaving your computer vulnerable.

Common Norton “scammy-feeling” behaviours

Here are the things people often run into:

  • Auto‑renewal at a higher price Norton is notorious for renewing subscriptions at a much higher rate than the original offer.

  • Pop‑ups claiming your device is at risk These can feel manipulative, even if they’re technically legitimate.

  • Emails about “expired protection” Some are real, some are phishing attempts pretending to be Norton.

  • Hard-to-cancel subscriptions They don’t make it easy, and that alone feels scammy.

Okay…I thought your gripe was

Regards w Respect

Look You might think you are doing an honest days grift because it’s hidden in the small print so that makes it legitimate, and it covers you by the law we all know to read the small print I get it, but Norton has taken it to another level of dishonesty with the small print on a card, and it still does not excuse the scare mail trying to trick users in to buying things they don’t need. I looked to ask for a refund, but it wants photo copies scans, and it makes it impossible to even get a refund the whole thing is to extract cash out of you and make it in such a way the average person would just give in.
