Three licences can I remove one from one pc to put 360 on a new one?

As I say I have Norton on 3 machines but want to put it on a new laptop and remove it from an old pc as it is so old it runs very slowly. Can I do this? I was told that the each computer is registered directly with Norton, I don't want to buy new AV to put on a new pc when I have over 6 months left on my current one

No problem -- just uninstall from the discontinued PC and then installl it on the new one -- see below for details on how to install the current version directly since the CD versions are frozen at the date of release to manufacture.

When you go to activate you are likely to get an error message about exceeding the number of permitted activations and you won't be able to activate but the installation should continue to run for a short period in trial mode which is fully functional.

Then just contact the Norton OnLine Customer Support via CHAT as below which uses the keyboard of your computer and they will sort it out quickly and painlessly according to all the feedback we get from users.

To contact customer support:        Click on this link and work on from there.

You can choose CHAT or Email; email or phone may have a long wait time and feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems.

Note that that link is to the USA/CAN website so if you are located elsewhere I'm sure you will be able to find the equivalent location on your local Symantec website; some pages have a link at the top right where you can select the country you are located in.

Does the new computer have any other security software on it?  Apart from the normal uninstalling nearly every security program has a special cleanup tool on its website that you can download and run after the normal install. Let us know first and we can point you to the right tools to use including one for Norton products if it had one installed -- like the trial versions that come on new computers. If they are identical to what you want to install now you may not have to clean up and we can tell you the shortcut.

New N360 V5: Click on the link that matches your version:

Make sure you get the right version since the keys are not interchangeable. SAVE the file where you can find it -- do not run it from the download site when Windows asks what you want to do.

You can download that file on any computer and transfer it to a thumbdrive to install on another.

When it asks you to activate it you can click on Renew and enter the key there.

Please let us know how you get on ....

Thanks for the reply I managed to have a chat online with someone at Norton and he has altered my settings so I just have to install from the cd.

If you install from the CD you need to run the LiveUpdate several times with a reboot in between to get up to the latest of the V5 series because the CD will have what was first released back in April I think it was and there has been at least one major update since then.

That's why I give the download link which is the current version and it really is much better to use that since as you can see if you check the forum messages some people are reporting problems after updating although that is mostly from V4 to V5 without uninstalling.

Do follow the instructions for dealing with whatever security software came preinstalled on the new PC or you will have problems.
