Today i was checking my sons activity on his lap top and found this .Time Monitoring PC System Time was changed Ste Plumtree Changed to:08/30/2009 13:13:27 GMT.I know he had not changed anything has he was not on the laptop at that time,he was having his dinner with the family.Any clue why this happened.

The laptop was turned on but he was not using it at the time.Also nobody else was using the laptop at this time.As for the time it was correct before the incident .
I was again checking my sons activity on his lap top and again the time change notice is there.His time zone is set as mineis.I also have online family on my laptop but dont get the notice any help?See pic below.

Is your son's PC system time correct now? Or is it off? If we go by the Alert, it means that the machine should be off by 49 minutes.
Also, Does your son have Administrator rights on the PC?

The time never changed on his pc.His pc was showing the correct time before the time change notice and after.The time was never changed by anyone.No he does not have admin rights.

If I understood the situation correctly for the example given in the sample report at 2.13pm the time was changed to 1.13pm. But in reality on the computer there was no change of time. And I notice the time zone used is GMT.
I am just wondering if this has anything to do with the computer using a GMT-based internet clock to keep the time accurate and taking into account the 1 hour difference between summer and winter time (or possibly that you live in a time zone with a 1 hour difference from GMT). What I mean is that the computer might check the time against an internet clock, set it to 1.13pm and then adjust by one hour to 2.13pm. The result would be that the clock on the computer would not change but ONF might report that the clock had been adjusted. On your own computer maybe nothing is reported because you might be working on an acocunt that is not monitored by ONF.
Sorry if I have misunderstood the situation, it is just a thought.

That could well be the solution to the time change,Maybe someone could answer this?
The time change tamper event is not generated by a discrepancy between client and server but from the client machine itself. If the time is ever changed, Windows will report an event to the Norton Safety Minder and it will report that back to the servers.
I am unsure what could cause this on your system as I don't know what other software you have installed. Do you have something that makes sure you windows system clock is up to date?

This is the point I was trying to make in my previous post.
Matt, if the standard clock on the PC is set to synchronise with an internet clock would this be the cause or would the Safety Minder recognise this as a false alarm?
For anyone who is wondering whether their PC clock is set to synchronise I found the best way to check is to double click the clock, select the tab for internet time and see whether "automatically synchronise..." is selected [procedure on an XP system]

I have the same issue here. Time is changing multiple times during the day and I am fairly certain that my kids are not changing it.
- When I check the time on their PC, it is always correct.
- When I login to their user account on the PC and try to change the time myself, I get a message saying that the user doesn't have sufficient priviledges to change the time.
- I have keystroke tracking on the computer and there is no indication of an attempt to change the time
- I have screen capture tracking on the computer and there are no screens captured, at the time the time change supposedly happened that indicate activity to change the time.
Is it possible that a router time synchronization could be causing this? I do run our home network through a router and it does synchronize with an internet clock, is it possible this synchronization is causing issues?
Yes, internet clock is causing the issue. We’re improving the logic to handle the scenario more gracefully. The fix should be available soon to be included in one of the future releases of the client software.
