I have installed NF on both PC and Mac. Time limit (whether amount of time or hour of the day) works on PC and logs out the kids as per my setup. Does not work on the Apple Macbook apparently. I can log in at anytime of the day for as long as I want. When I go the NF menu the application actually recognizes that it is past curfew but does not force a log out like on the PC. Help!
Hi shibou,
What version of Mac do you have on the machine?
What browser and version is running on the machine?
Did you experience the issue before, or did it work before?
What version of Norton Safety MInder is running the MacBook?
Thanks,
Katie
The Macbook is 3 months old. Has latest OS and Safari. I just updated Safety Minder last night. My wife says the time limt used to work. I cannot guaranty it did. The internet monitoring does indeed work and always did. Just the time limit appears to not be functioning. Hope this answers your questions. Thx. Lionel
Hi shibou,
You said you have the latest OS and Sarafi. Can I assume you have OS X Mountain Lion and Safari 6?
When the time is up, does the child receive the warning message indicating how many minutes left?
What version of the Norton Family is on the Mac? Click the Norton QuickMenu icon -> Select Norton Safety Minder -> Edit Account, then you should see the version number on the screen.
It's quite possible that the Norton Family extension is there, but not enabled. If that's the case, it may show up in the list of extensions they have installed, but not be enabled. Clicking enable on it, should fix it in that case.
Thanks,
Katie
I did the following and it now works:
- Uninstalled all Norton software on the MacBook
- Deleted the MacBook from the devices in my Norton Family account
- Downloaded and reinstalled from scratch.
Note that step 2 (deleting the device from my account) was required.
Thx for your help.
Lionel
Thanks shibou for the update!
