Time limits and curfew

I see several posts with the same problem, but so far no solution on how to make time limits and curfew work....  my daughter has a mac laptop and the time limits that I have set do not work.  The icon shows 0 minutes left, but she can still logon with her name and keep playing on the computer even after her curfew hours have gone... any ideas on how to solve the problem?

Thank you!

Hi marla48,

Thanks for reporting time issue on Mac to us.  The issue has been corrected and will be included in the next version.

I am sooo glad this issue has been solved! do you know when is the next version coming up???

Just got the "Norton . . . has been Disabled" tonight. TWICE. From my son's and daughter's computers. Is the curfew thing a theory or does it actually work? The work arounds are probably common knowledge to our children's so when can we expect a fix?

Hi bkarthur,

How often do you receive the message?  After you receive the message, Do you still see the Web activities get recorded?

Thanks,

Katie

I am new to the service so forgive if I'm only repeating.  My daughter's time ran out yesterday (total time on not after a set curfew) and it logged her out as it should.  But then she simply logged back on and was able to do anything for as long as she liked.  This seems like a simple problem that should not happen.

Hi LeeH21,

Did you see the exact steps that your daughter took to log back on the PC? What did the Time Remaining indicate (you can find it by clicking NSM icon in the System tray and selecting View Time Remaining.

Please give the kid’s user account  non-administrator rights(restricted or limited). Also, keep the password for your Norton Online Family away from her.   Otherwise, a monitored child is able to tamper the system.

Thanks,

Katie

It seems this is a common problem.  Katie did you see that I posted the screen shots you requested on the "Allows Child to Login During Blocked Hours?"

She was sitting next to me and it started counting down the time she had left and once it reached zero it signed her off.  Then out of curiosity she thought she would see what it would do if she tried to log back on and tried it.  It just let her back on and never gave any warnings.  I got the notice that she ran to the end of her time and was logged off, but nothing that she had logged back in.

I will have to check the account to see if its non-admin the next time shes on.  I may have made her an admin because shes the only one that uses the net-book and it makes it easier for it to keep up with windows and system updates.  Not sure but I'll check.

Thanks

Hi LeeH21,

It's possible that she logs back onto the PC using another unmonitored Windows user account.  As an administrator, she can create a new user account.

Thanks,

Katie
