Time Restrictions Issue - Fast User Switching "loophole" in client version 2.6.0.61

I'm a new user to Norton Family as of 3/23/2013.  I have noticed that if my daughter logs in during a restricted time frame after performing a "switch user," she is able to continue using the computer for upwards of what appears to be 6 minutes before being presented with the dialog requesting parent authentication for time extension.  If she clicks "cancel" at that point, she gets "locked", which is good.  If after being "locked" she just simply authenticates without doing a "switch user", she gets "locked" again pretty fast (15 seconds or so), which is good.  However, if she does a "switch user" to "herself" and authenticates, she gets another six minutes or so before being presented with the dialog requesting parent authentication for time extension :-)

The system tray slide appears indicating that time is up for the day on each authentication event, independent of whether it was a standard authentication event or a "switch user" and then authenticate event.  Norton Family is also active even after "switch user" was performed since I received warnings when I tried to visit restricted web sites and since the program was otherwise performing normally (i.e. system tray icon was available, system tray slide appeared normally, etc.)

I'm able to repeat this consistently.  You'll see from the provided info below that she is just a standard user.  My workaround has been to disable fast user switching, but thought you'd like to know about this issue.

Hi ChrisLenderman,

Thanks for the detailed description.  You mentioned "if she does a "switch user" to "herself" and authenticates".  I assume she has a password to log onto her Windows account.  While we are checking into the issue, can you please create a longer password for the child’s Windows account, so when the child logs back onto the PC diligently each time, it would create more work to do so?

Thanks,

Katie

Hi Katie,  that is correct, she has a password to log in.

As I mentioned, I found disabling "fast user switching" to be an acceptable workaround.  Thanks!

Hi ChrisLenderman,

Thanks for the update.  I've reported this to the team we are checking into the issue now.

Thanks,

Katie
