Timer not working

I just downloaded Online Family and created (2) users for my two children.  While testing it,  I set it to not allow access from 6pm to 6am but it did not restrict access.  Also, there is nothing being reported in the time tab ( No activity for Last 7 Days).   I also set the time to "0" hours per day but it still did not restrict access.

When I switch to my kids account, the paw does not appear.  When I attempt to click the Norton Family icon, Windows asks what program I want to open it with.

Katie,

All of that is set up correctly.  I can view the kid's search results and times spent on the computer, but the Norton Family won't limit the usage like it is suppose to.  I made sure the time function is turned on.  I set it to not allow activity ( o hours) and count, but it will do neither.   Also, I still don't get the paw icon when I sign in as the kids.  I see the paw icon as the admin/owner only.   The large Norton icon appears on the kid's desktop but when I click it, windows asks what program I want to open it with.  It doesn't seem to be working correctly.  I have un-installed and re-installed without success.

Hi dwolanski,

I just sent you a PM.  You could access the message by clicking on the icon_notes_mail.gif icon in the upper right hand corner of the page.

HI Katie -

I have a similar issue with timers. I do get a message if time limits have been exceeded, but I cannot see how much time my child actually spent on the computer or on any specific websites. Can you advise?

One way to determine if the time monitoring rules have been applied correctly is to log into a child's account, and then from the tray icon (the paw by the clock) select "view time remaining". If the details regarding the rules have been downloaded and set up correctly, they will be displayed here.

HI Andrew -

I logged into my son's account and looked at the tray icon as you suggested. It indicated time remaining as 1 hour 53 minutes. Based on that, I would say the time monitoring is set up correctly, as I have him limited to 2 hours.

However, when I look under his Activity tab for "Time" and select Show Activity for "Today", it reads "no activity for today"  when it should state 7 minutes. I also looked at his activity tab for time for "Yesterday" and it stated "no activity" again, even though I know he was on various websites. Please advise. I want to see how much time he is spending on the websites.

Thank you

KRL,

You can set up how long a kid is allowed to use the PC under Settings -> Time.  Once the kid has reached the time limit, the  program records the activity under Activity -> Time and logs out the kid, so you know the kid has used the full allowed time.  Currently the program doesn’t record the time usage on each website or if the full allowed time is not reached.  I’ll put this to our enhancement list.

Thanks,

Katie
