To Tim Lopez re 16,5 update

Its been almost two weeks and many of us--me included--Still do not have 16.5 update, 16.2 took a week!

IMO, Symantec needs to issue a patch that we can download and run to update.

Any info on this possibility and/or info on when the patch will be rolled out to everyone?

Thanks

I agree 100%! Why can’t we just download the update!

Maybe symantec have Found a Problem?  You will get the Update eventually; you'll just need to wait.  ;)

Yeah why can’t we just download it ? the patch is like 2 weeks old :smileysad:

Hello Hawkeyelom,

I apologize for the delay in receiving this patch. I am still keeping to my word to post updates as they become available .The patch is still being released in a controlled manner. I know that many of you are anxious to receive the patch. As soon as I hear any updates, please be assured that I will keep the forums updated. This is something I'm anxious to see released too.

We will end up refreshing the download links with the new version as well, so eventually all downloads will be updated to 16.5. However, this will not be done until after the patch has been rolled out in full force.

Again, I will update as soon as more information is available.

Thank you for your patience!

have you got any eta of when everyone should get the patch?

Hello Cinek,

I don't have an ETA at this time. Again, I will post more information when I have it.

Thanks!

@Tim Lopez

How long does it take to ask this information about status and availability from this Update? The update 16.2 took only a few days, we wait now  almost 2 weeks.

Hello Voyager10,

Sorry for the confusion. It's not that it's taking me a while to get the status for you. It's that there is no new update to share. I'm in contact with the proper teams and will update when there is something new to update. As it stands right now - the update is still being released in a controlled manner, and there is no ETA on when it will be widespread. And again, I will update as soon as there is new information.

Thank you for being patience while we release this patch.

Why is Symantec releasing patches in a “controlled manner?”

Hello Jimbo40,

Because we're using new LiveUpdate technology. We want to ensure that this is released in a stable controlled environment.

Thanks for the info--I still think two weeks is way too long!

yes I agree that's it's taking way too long, I think it should be like when mircosoft releases updates, everyone gets them at the same time - no delay

oh well - looks like we still have to wait :(

Hey gentlemen,

I've reinstalled NIS09 again and it's still waiting behind the version of 16.1.0.33 !!!

It doesn't want to update to itself :smileytongue:

Can it be any inconvenience while i'm shopping and banking online ?

Hello ahappy,

If you wish, you can download, save and install the 16.2.0.7 version of NIS 2009 here.

You still have security with the previous versions. The updates to NIS 2009 have been mainly "bug" fixes and enhancements.

I have nothing official but from reading some of the posts, I am guessing that the 16.5 update has been slowed to address a few sporadic issues that some users are having.

I am still at 16.2.0.7.

Hello Phil_D,

Thanks for your suggestion. I'll download 16.2.07 version immediately.

Greetings,

Just remember that this Update includes the Adding of Norton Safe Web, so that is probably why it is taking longer.

I would like to differ here... the previous version 033 is not as good as 207... until I manually updated to 207 I had major problems with viruses and malware to the point I had to reformat and reinstall everything onto my laptop... what a mare!!!

Do we need to uninstall the separate version of Safe Web if we already have it installed?

We should be able to download the update. This is poor support. I have been using Norton for over ten years, now i’m thinking about switching to avast. I don’t like this game of some people have it and some don’t! Getit together Norton and make the update available to all and stop with the STOCK answers like just wait for it!
