We have corporate antivirus etc so need to uninstall Nortons products.
When trying to uninstall anth theft it prompts, after a very long time, for a signin to Nortons account. Email login and password but we have never registered or used the product - it came pre installed - (which, by the way is VERY annoying).
Sorry to hear of the problem you are having. I am puzzled as to how Norton AntiTheft can come "pre installed" in terms of apparently being registered with a Norton Account, as I thought you had to register it in the first case to set it up. Can you contact whoever provided you with the system and ask them what they did?
Have you been able to remove all other security software (apart from your corporate software)? Have you tried to uninstall via the control panel - programs - uninstall?
I will try and see if I can come up with any other ideas but at the moment I am stuck. :-(
I believe that Norton may have now got in touch with you directly. So that should sort things out as quickly as possible. However if you have not heard from them then do let us know.
All the best.
I hope to hear of a successful resolution before long. ;-)
pleased to report that the issue has been resoved.
Left overnight, turned on this morning - same issue.
But a reboot with logging enabled (requested by support) - Same uninstall and it worked perfectly.
I would suspect the multiple reboots may have been the answer. We were removing other products at the same time - the usual collection of free stuff that clutters up the machine when you get it new. I can only assume one of those was blocking something with nortons uninstall of Anti Theft. The reboots may have cleared that (after a few)
All other Nortons removed with no issue.
Many thanks though for the fast response from Nortons and this forum.
