We all pay for upgraded network upload and download speed capabilities. It would be a great user service to be able to tell if we are getting what we pay for. When I worked as a network engineer, we used to be able to see the network speed using a sniffer. These days it seems as if the information might be available in our home routers. Is this information readily available, and could Norton network monitoring show this performance measure?
For example, I'm having trouble with a game service (POGO) having consistent trouble loading pages. I suspect the service does not have enough servers to meet the needs of its users, but I would only know if the service is the source of the problem if I knew the throughput problem is not with my network.
If this capability already exists, I would like to know how to use it. If it is not possible to monitor this performance measure, I would like to know that also. If it is possible, I'd like to know if Norton is considering adding this capability. I don't think you need to be a network engineer to want to know if you are getting your money's worth from your ISP.
