Tracking thread for Norton 25.9 / 25.10 releases

Ok folks!! So here we go again. Its time once again to put this specific release version into a thread of its own and allow the thread to be tracked as with previous versions. Weird things have begun happening, and not to everyone at once but are happening nevertheless. Please allow me to start the thread with the following:

Windows 10 Pro: 22H2 build 19045.6396 (64 bit)

Norton 360 Deluxe: 25.9.10453 (build 25.9.10453.0)

The day began with the already noted and reported issue where opening the UI presents users with a white screen and spinning circle. I do not have a screenshot, trust me it happened. After about two minutes the UI opened and has remained usable since.
As the day progressed. Norton firewall is being a PITA with most everything I do today. Although after some short period of time sites DO open they are not doing as expected. A full reset of the firewall does NOT correct anything.

Being told there is an updated version released this is what I just got when manually running live updates:

[1] Rebooting the machine doesn’t clear anything and LU still fail.

[2] I will be linking other threads to this one as before to ensure we have them all in one place vice scattered about the forums.

The issues in the opening post for me, my side appear to be resolved with a AUTOMATIC LU fix put in place while away from this PC a bit under two hours ago. I now have the following that resolved the issues:

Norton 360 Deluxe 25.9.10453 (build 25.9.10453.953)
Virus definitions 250930-10
UI version 1.0.104

Hi, I hope I can add to this thread. I have just uninstalled and re-installed Norton 360 and thus is what I now have

Windows 11, version 25H2 installed 01/Oct/2025.
Live Update ran with no issues.
Is there anything else I should do ?

SA, Thanks for your help and patience.

@Jonathan_Allenby Yes indeed thanks for the post.. it looks like your virus definitions set was updated. Caveat is your version of Windows 11 is 25H2 as well. That is a plus-plus. Thanks again.

Hi SA, if we find any issues with this update, should we add them to this thread ?
I don’t want to keep coming up with issues but I am having an issue with the Cloud Backup, should I add this here ?
I also cannot close the control panel UI with the x in the top right corner - I have to use Windows Control Panel to stop the process.
Thanks, Jonathan

Yes indeed. If the issue is already listed just tag the thread with the same issue.

Adding another thread to the fray:

Received the update to 25.9.10453.0 today (note suffix .0 not .953), as per:

but I have the later virus definition version.

Not seeing the LU issue reported by @SoulAsylum - manual run of LU ran to completion OK.

I’m on Windows 11 Pro 24H2.

But have done my usual check, as with all previous versions of v 25, to see if there’s any change with the problem of flooding Security History with UDP (17) reports if NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled - that issue is still not fixed.

One day later my build has now updated to 25.9.10453.953.

I’ve seen one oddity when using Norton VPN (both with .0 and .953) - when starting a search, Google was requesting an “I’m not a Robot” check due to network anomalies. But that was resolved by changing VPN location so doesn’t appear to be related to the new version.

That is normal for Google to robot check when using any VPN. Its not Norton specific. Actually, I’ve seen it ask the same even when NOT using a VPN for whatever reason my side. That hasn’t happened in a long time now though. Google is fickle about how traffic is routed in the first place, so lets lay that issue in Google’s lap lol.

I’m using windows 11 24H2, and after 25.9.10453.953 the Norton 360 VPN would display “requesting” instead of a virtual IP and not provide any connection. I’ve tried all of the common fixes like live update, repair tool and reinstall using the removal tool, and none of it has fixed the issue. Can anyone give me some other suggestions?

Does anyone experience what appears to be a real hard push by Norton’s to purchase Help Desk Software Tool when looking for solutions to “Norton’s own Software problems. It very disconcerting the only way to fix a problem is to purchase more Norton’s software. I had the Help Desk software but ceased and requested refund after paying an annual subscription fee. Lodging jobs on it was clumsy and then 3 followup ph calls was needed before the job was even looked at.

After being a loyal Norton customer (commercially back in day of Norton Anywhere and the likes) but for the past 13, years have been a residential customer), I must admit Norton’s is loosing its lustre. I read statements from other users that since the acquisition of Avast there appear to be a number of functionalities from Avast that are being run in the background which have caused a stir. Whilst these appear to more for practicality than Norton’s being secretive and evasive its not really the Norton’s Co that I have known for the past 40 years!

All the screenshots noted in the below convo re updates were common for over 4 weeks. It has since corrected but lordy what a mess.

Another thread with firewall issue related to RDP.

Although I personally haven’t seen the Help Desk issue appear, I also don’t run all the scans Norton suggests either. Smart Scan being the #1 on that list, using it always results in a sell-up as a possible solution. At times when no issues are present.

SA

So, here we go with yet another version update release. Version 25.10.10528, with the official announcement due posted soon. Can’t wait to see what isn’t corrected in this release that enhances what is already not functioning right. I’m a betting person that says, the nag/sell-up crap won’t disappear. Not going to start another thread for this version either, issues and corrected issues can go here for tracking purposes. :upside_down_face:

Adding another thread here that continues to be a major one for users.

Noted issue, since getting this latest release to actually install. Asking if, anyone is seeing the context menu scan NOT creating the popup stating the scan was actually done as it normally would? The scans are actually being logged in history without any indications otherwise they were done.

Just installed Norton 360 v 25.10 to see if any issues that I was having were fixed. Answer is “No”. Biggest issue is with VPN, which says it is on but is incapable of connecting to the internet.

When I specify the location rather than using “fastest”, I get “Virtual IP: N/A”, indicating that there is no connection (I tried to include a screenshot of that, but was blocked from doing so).

Given that I need a VPN when traveling, etc., I decided to uninstall Norton again. Hopefully that will go well.
