Just in case anyone finds this the issue was with the latest version of Norton. I contacted Norton support and we worked the problem and in the end we went back to the previous software release number 22.24.2.6 with the interface I was used too over the last few years. With this release everything worked again. The engineer hoped in the near future the new release would be fixed for this issue.
