Transfer logins and passwords to another Norton account

Moved to Norton Toolbar board for better exposure.

Hi.  Thanks for the response.  I did not have the foresight to export the ID Safe data.  :smileyfrustrated  Sorry for the omission of the OS.  The crashed computer was running Vista and the replacement computer will be a clean installation if windows 7.

The OS installation will probably be done tonight as well as the new installation if N360.  Thru my account I have deactivated the license to the crashed computer to transfer the the replacement.  I'll then have an opportunity to look into ProgramData folder and let you know what I see.

Thanks again for your help.  I'll be back.

Well, installed and updated the OS last night.  Plugged in the HDD dock with the old C drive and ...... nothing.  It says that the drive has to be formatted.  Tried two other drives and it read them fine so it is not the dock.  The motherboard must have done something to the drive.  I can hear it spinning but it just can't be read.

Its not so bad that I have to recreate the passwords to the vault ( I have them written down) but it is all the pictures and documents on it that had not been backed up recently.  I know.......backup, backup, backup!  Anyone had any luck with any recovery software they would recommend.  There is no physical damage to this disk.

Well, I may just be dating myself here--and I confess I haven't had to use it in decades--but I used to swear by Gibson Research's Spinrite ( https://www.grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm ), and it seems to still be out there. I've seen it bring drives back from beyond the grave; my favorite example was a server that some fool had put in a damp basement on Fort Knox--I swear the drive had mold on it when I pulled it. But Spinrite got it running again, and we were able to get all the data copied onto a new one (and the server moved, but that's another story!)

If anyone else offers a more current recommendation, though, go with it!

OK.  I dodged a bullet.  Instead of using the dock I installed the HDD into an optical drive/HDD sled and it read it!  Backup lesson learned (for today at least).  On the old drive I can navigate to Program Data-Norton-{OC55C096-.........}-N360_21.2.1.22-IdentitySafeDataStore folder.  I assume that I copy something from here but do not want to get too far ahead of myself.

I have installed N360 in the C drive of the new computer and activated it as well as set up a Norton Identity safe account and password.  What's next?

OK keledol,

Sounds ike you are ready to try to retreive your log-ins.  If thre is anything that is not clear, please ask.

Please be advised the numbers behind the N 360_ may be slightly different. Also the S-1-5-21 is a random generated number and the ending of it may be different from what I have shown below.

Also, please make sure you are logged out of your Vault before copying the folder to the new folder location. If you do not log out - the information you seek cannot be copied and it will throw an error.

Conversly, when you try to Import, you must be logged into the Vault in order to see the Import function.

In Vista/Win 7:

C:\ProgramData\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\N360_20.1.0.24\IdentitySafeDataStore\S-1-5-21-1845553030-3031872880-4008053321-1001\

The Program Data Folder may be hidden in windows 7. so first choose Computer -> organize -> folder and search options -> view -> show hidden files and folders -> apply

1. Copy the IdentitySafeDataStore folder to a new folder in a convenient location on your computer. NOTE:  You will be creating a new folde (I use the desktop) and will be coping all of the folder)
2. In the Identity Safe Settings Window select Import Data > Configure [+]
3. In the Import Identity Safe Data window, 'Browse' to the new folder you just created in step 1
4. Double click the folder to open it and select the file IDDStore2 > Open.  NOTE:  You will only be opening one of the files in the folder.
5 .Under 'While importing data', select 'Merge with existing data' and click OK. You may be prompted to enter the password for the old data.
6. If you have changed any login credentials for a particular site since the older data was created, you will be presented with a Data Conflict window. Select which login version you wish to keep and click OK.
7. OK your way out and check that the merged logins have been added and are working.

Let us know how things work out.

Thanks for the quick reply!!  I followed your clear instructions and I now have all my logins back.  Thank you for your help and this wonderful forum.  It is greatly appreciated.

You are welcome and you know where to find us if you need us again!

The motherboard died on my laptop.  I am in the process of setting up another to replace it and was wondering if there was a way to transfer the logins and passwords to the new account.  I don't believe the were in the cloud but local on the computer.

I can use an external HDD dock to access the old HDD to get to any files or folders needed.  I hope it is as easy as replacing a folder into the new install.  The old computer was windows vista 64 bit and the replacement computer is windows 7 64 bit.  Any advice is greatly appreciated.
