My old computer crashed. I had to buy a new one. I had just signed up for my renewal for one year of Norton. How do I transfer my subscription to my new computer? I have about 9 months on the renewed subscription.
Hello cathycullen and welcome to the Community. Would you let us know what Norton Product you were using? Not that it matters but the download locations are different. Did you create an account at MyNortonAccount, that you could log into and get your key code? You should also be able to use the On-Line Chat service (you might have to scroll down a little to see the Chat Now button) to get your account reset. Come back and let us know it this helps.
I got a message on my computer. It talked about express renewal. I signed up and it gave me a order confirmation. It gave me a product key to use. So I don't have any cd, just a copy of my order.
do you know of a customer service phone number that I can call and get my account reset? I tried typing and the "bot" couldn't understand my question. I got so frustrated and kept typing over and over.
Cathy - Did you get that renewal message on your new PC or was that from your old PC? If you have a valid product key, you can just download the program. Depending on what Norton Product you are using, NIS or NAV or 360, you download the program from different locations. What product were you using?

I know how you feel about Nathan ....
The good news is that resetting the account can be done very easily by using the Norotn OnLine Customer Support via the CHAT route that uses your computer keyboard. See below for the way to do this without getting intercepted by Nathan (I hope)
Just tell them what happened and they will sort everything out -- we get many reports back from users on doing it this way and it's quick and painless.
To contact customer support Click on this link and work on from there. You may have to scroll down a little to see the CHAT button.
You can choose CHAT or Email; email or phone may have a long wait time and feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems.
Note that that link is to the USA/CAN website so if you are located elsewhere I'm sure you will be able to find the equivalent location on your local Symantec website; some pages have a link at the top right where you can select the country you are located in.
We can help you get your Norton reinstalled but you must tell us exactly which it is --
Norton Internet Security / Norton AntiVirus / Norton 360 standard (2GB on line storage) / Norton 360 standard (25GB on line storage)
We can give you a link to download the current version and install it.
ALso since most new computers come with a trial installation of some kind of security program we need to know what it was and if you removed it already how you did that -- some special steps are needed to stop left-overs interfering with a good installation of your Norton product ...
Please let us have the details (and it might be good to know the version of Windows you have on your new PC and if it is 32 bit or 64 bit)
Hello cathycullen
You can follow these instructions to transfer your subscription to your new computer. However, before you do that, you have to thoroughly remove the real time security program that probably came pre installed with your new computer. You can follow Hugh's advice in getting your account reset to allow you to enter the key into your new computer. Please follow the instructions in this kb article.
If you have any further problems, please come back and let us know. Thanks.
