Transferring licences - PIN number - computers names

Hi,

I have installed Norton 360 on 3 computers and I have no more licences. I want to transfer a licence onto another computer because one computer is being destroyed. I have seen an article on how to do this but the article leaves me with questions-

1. The article mentions service PIN from a service provider. I don't think I have one because it is my copy of Norton 360. Do I need a service PIN?

2. Is it possible to find out the names of the computers which Norton is installed on? This is more out of curiousity. I can only find out the number of installations.

Thanks

Jason

As you are being asked for a PIN number, it sounds like you are using the version of 360 offered by your ISP, Comcast maybe???

Can you confirm this?

If so, I'll leave you to the experience of Yank, another volunteer here that uses that product.

As peterweb mentioned Comcast, I can verify that a PIN is used by an ISP in lieu of a product key - however since you have a retail copy of N 360 (only 3 licenses vise Comcast permits 7).  You can open your Norton Account from the main page of N 360 and on the Products Tab by clicking on your license will show you the Prodcut key for your install.

I believe you are referring to this URL:

Those instuctions are for an ISP provided product.

The names listed in Norton Management are tied to the Computer Name given each system in Windows, unless you have modified them:

Click on the Windows key + Pause at the same time. The resulting window will list information about your system incluyding the names - perhaps you can match them up

 using that information.

Thanks

The following is from an FAQ I located:

Question:

I have had Norton 360 installed on 3 computers. One of them has crashed. Now I want to use a license on a new PC, but it says I already used up all 3 licenses. How do I transfer the license to my new PC?

Answer:

If you installed Norton 360 onto 3 PCs, and you want to install it onto additional computer, but you're unable to uninstall it first from the old one, you should use Norton Management (lets you manage all of your Norton products and Norton product keys from one location). You can access Norton Management from within your Norton Account, under Norton Apps. From there, you can add and remove your devices, and even remotely install and manage your Norton products on the device.  If, for any reason, you have trouble using Norton Management, you can always contact Symantec's customer service and ask them to adjust the licenses in your Norton Account. One of the best ways to contact Symantec is to use chat option which is free.

If you can't figure it out using the above, please come bck and someone will walk uyou thriough it with better instructions.

Hi smallmaj,

Welcome to Norton Community,

Follow step by step procedure,

Attached pictures for easier understanding,

1)  Login to https://manage.norton.com/ using the Norton account id

2)  Click My Account -> Product Details. Find the screenshot below

Step1.jpg

3) Select the product and search for destroyed computer name under 'Device name' column
Now click on the Trash can icon. Find the screenshot below

Step2.jpg

Now Out of 3 license, One license has been released. Now you can activate another computer with no worries :)

Answering to your question:

1) Norton360 doesnot posses service PIN. Norton 360 will have key for activation

2) Yes you can see the installed devices names in the Norton management portal. In the above screenshot, you can find the name of the devices under 'Device Name' column.

Hope it helps :)
