Trial version expired on Win 8.1 laptop. Trying to use one of my 2 extra subscriptions but fails

I have 2 subscriptions left on my account and wanted to activate on my Windows 8.1 laptop. Norton will not let me sign in on the installed program. I keep getting Server error. I try to run live update, but it keeps failing. I tried to uninstall/re-install program which changes nothing. I can log into my Norton account on chrome with this computer, but gives no access to installed Norton 360 program. Help!

Thanks, but this did not work

Edited: The link seems to be hit and miss for whatever reason. I just downloaded the file while posting this and it gave me the results below.

Do a removal only scenario with the removal tool, use Advanced Options.

https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v60392881

  • To only remove your Norton device security product, click Advanced Options and then click Remove Only. Pay close attention to step # 5 in the Norton article.

Follow on screen prompts to restart your machine. Afterward a restart of the machine, the R/R tool MAY prompt you to reinstall. Don't. Make sure you log into your Norton account to reinstall your Norton product there. When the installed completes, manually run live updates to install all patches that are available. Make sure you reboot as each patch is installed whether prompted to do so or not. This will ensure the patches are installed separately and completely. Perform a final restart.

I can sign into Norton on Google Chrome on my 8.1 laptop. I have 2 subscriptions available. I can't sign in on the downloaded version on my 8.1 laptop. All there is is an activate button. When I click on it, it tries to communicate with Norton when a server error pops up. I used the uninstall tool from Norton several times, but the trial version still comes back. I may just have to wipe the laptop, and start over.

Did what you recommended, still trial version remains.

Have you Signed in?

Also, click on

After switching to Norton Classic style

Install is latest Norton 360 release. No change after doing what you instructed.

Did what you recommended, still trial version remains.

Pre installed Norton has some digitally signed certificate attached to it so that it can only be used once and only on one machine.

try downloading offline setup file but before you need to remove the current installed one.

Hello. Are you trying to install an older version of Norton 360? Within your account and under subscriptions can you see that there are two licenses still available? Disable fast startup in your power settings and reboot the computer. Having that enabled at times can cause software install issues. Let us know if anything changes.
