Issue abstract: As per description
Detailed description: Whenever I try to run Norton, I get the error as per title.
Product & version number:
OS details: Windows 7 SP1
What is the error message you are seeing? Operation did not complete successfully beacuse file contains a virus"
I’ve tried the remove/re-install, this leaves the Norton files in C:ProgramFiles.
I cannot delete them from there because even as administrator Windows wants the admin permission but does not give the option of entering it.
Re-install after using “Remove Only” (which completes successfully) gets through stage 1 (Security) then fails on “Performance” with error “Couldn’t complete successfully 45006”.
I’ve looked this up, (https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v20230621151903915) and I do not have “saa nextizen” installed.
Norton does not show on my “add/remove programs” list from control panel or using the instructions in the link above.
If I try to run Norton from the program list I get the error as per the title.
Before removing and re-installing I tried the system restore back to a point way before this issue surfaced (which was today), and it has made no difference.
So - I’m at my wits end - I can’t get rid of Norton, I can’t re-install it (from a fresh download), and I can’t run it!
And of course I’m reluctant to zap the machine because there’s a lot to re-install
