Trojan Found and Quarantined - Now What?

Sorry, obviously a newbie here. When copying some documents from an old external drive, Norton IS caught what it says was a trogan (see below)

 

Category: Quarantine
Date & Time,Risk,Activity,Status,Recommended Action,Path - Filename
12/10/2010 11:43 PM,High,adobeflashplayer10.9.exe (Trojan.FakeAV!gen29) detected by Auto-Protect,Quarantined,Resolved - No Action,d:\thinkpad backups\mydocuments\downloads\adobeflashplayer10.9.exe


 It shows this in Quarantine, and it states, "no action" needed. What exactly does that mean? Is it gone? Does Norton's somehow destroy or neutralize the .exe file? I'm assuming I no longer have to worry about it, but where did it go?

Thanks for the reply. I understand no further action on my part is needed. Still curious about what happens to the trojan/virus/malware once its quarantined. Is is neutralized somehow so it cannot do harm? It certainly doesn't sound like it is deleted at all.

It is actually deleted from your system.  An encrypted copy of the file is kept in quarantine in case of false positives.  You can "Clear Entries" under History>quarantine to get rid of the copy.  In the case of a false positive, the encrypted copy can be restored, and/or submitted to Symantec from quarantine as well.

I have a question does that apply to all things that were quaratined by norton cause I'm kind of nervous too, cause something I tried to dowload almost gave me a virus, but norton blocked it, I stoped the download, and it was quartined, it also says it was removed. Does that mean I am safe as well to use my computer?

You should be fine.  It never hurts to use another on demand scanner for a cross check just to make sure the bases are covered.  I use Malwarebytes free version.
