Hello,
I've been searching for effective solutions to this for a little bit now while doing what's in my knowledge to try to get rid of this bug on my wife's computer. She's not sure how, but last night she got infected with these 2 trojans and every 20-30 seconds, as long as she's connected to the internet (the popups stop when I turn off her wireless adapter), Symantec pops up with a notice about these two.
What I did last night (which may have been in error) was I located the folder that these were in, and deleted the folder, then permanently deleted it from the recycle bin. However, Symantec is still detecting the trojans, except they are located in "C:\$RECYCLE.BIN\S-1-5-18\$ff24043d55f85ce9a20a8337d9b4b888\U\800000cb.@" - that's directly from the Symantec log.
I've run an AVG scan, Ad-aware scan, Symantec scan, and Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool in safe mode, and if they do find anything (which they usually haven't) it's something seemingly unrelated - only 1 thing total in about 6 hours worth of scanning. When the wireless adapter is turned on, the notices appear in pairs every 20-30 seconds, as I said, and it also blocks the opening of several programs (Internet Explorer, AVG installer). When the adapter's off, those problems go away.
She is running Windows Vista. If there's anything else you need to know, please let me know. I really appreciate the help in advance!
