Bagger, if you are also using Firefox with NoScript, try allowing the page temporaily. If everybody else can manage to insert a .txt file, you are doing something wrong.
Calls:
Norton said it was blocked, therefore nothing got into your machine. If it had, it would have been quarantined just like the others. This is a path in your temporary internet files. Go to System tools>disc cleanup, and dump your temporary internet files and temp files. There is no need for them anyway.
We need to be much more diligent about moving threads that have become hijacked as this thread is assuming comic proportions.
I’m not getting the pop up blocker banner at the toop of the page. So it doesn’t appear to be blocking everything. The text file log looked normal in Notepad and Wordpad and kept their format when I pasted. However after hitting post the lines got bunched together. I left the post in Rich Text format. If someone PMs me an email address I can send the text files to them that way. This is very frustrating. When I first got on this forum I had edit capability…probably had attachment capability too. This weekend I’ll have my work laptop with me. I’ll get on the forum with it and try attaching the text files with it. Should be able to do it tomorrow night.
Another thing I just noticed. When I typed the previous post it consisted of three paragraphs. After posting it removed the spaces and bunched everything together. BTW…No using FireFox
Is there a way to move baggers posts to another thread? No offense bagger, but I think it confuses the issues between our two topics
Del- Thanks for your reply. I'm just stuck on wny rayofsunshine had something in her quarantine and I didi not? Shouldn't her/his auto protect stopped it at point of contact too?
I don't know why our Nortons handled it two different ways. Maybe it has something to do with how it was executed off the web pages (by Ad or image) that we were on at the time.
Yours was caught by Auto Protect (per your OP) Mine was caught by Download Insight. Even though I didn't attempt to download anything. It happened within a matter of seconds being on the page. I freaked and closed the page.
It still shows in my quarentine list, but I dunno how to screen shot or anything. I just feel safe knowing that Norton caught it and did away with it.

so ray of Sunshine, there is actually something in your quarantine log from Norton? What file is it/where was it located?
When you got the notification, did you actually see something malicious ( not the Norton notification) pop up on your sreen ( like when we get those phony virus scan scams)?
what was the offending item? Trojan.Pidief.G? Or something else?
I have NIS2010 and my lappy runs Vista Home Premium. When I visited the page, the NIS popped up and gave me the infection notice that it had quarentined Trojan.Pidief.G and to click it for more info and then the quarentine menu popped up and showed it in and I kept the notice. The file itself it just numbers and letters (03f6f78fd01) identified by norton as Trojan.Pidief.G and it was found in my temp files (Cache) of Firefox.
There was no suspicious activity on my puter and no fake notifications.
[Edit] p.s. Calls, if you want we can continue this through PM since this thread is enormous and intermixed and We don't really have a threat now.
p.p.s. Can anyone P.M. me and give me the dummies version on how to screen shot. I looked up online and for some reason I can't figure it out. I can screenshot webpages because of an extension I got on FF but don't know how to do desktop screenprint.
Again the reason I jumped in is because Norton found the same trojan (.Pidiedf.G) plus the Fake.AV. I apologize to everyone if I violated forum guidelines.
I'm on my work laptop this weekend and I can already see a difference with the screen comapred to what I was seeing on my home PC. I should be able to post the .txt log files. I will start a new thread and post the Malware and HiJackThis log files.
