Trojan.SVCHost/Fake not removed by NIS

Got a redirect in either Google or Yahoo search last week while Norton Safe Web icons were not appearing in these browsers. NIS popped up a warning but nothing more. Did a full scan with SuperAntiSpyware & it apparently eradicated the threat shown in the attachment. Since the NIS reinstall, Safe Web icons are back and there are no issues, but I just wanted to make mention of this as I was surprised that NIS took no action. Win Vista Ult x86, NIS 21.2.0.38

Hi,

Could be a FP.

There are threads in SAS forum about this.

Hi,
Not all infections are viruses that Norton will remove. Many are much less dangerous [more like a PITA] and are easily removed with SAS or MBAM. For things that are not removed by any of the mentioned solutions it's time to visit the experts at one of the free malware removal sites

When the time comes, choose one and work with the trained staff volunteer to get the job dome right. Self help and using the solutions that worked for other users can cause worse problems.

Til then stay well and surf safe

Not so sure it was a FP, as immediately after the redirect Firefox “whited out” & became unresponsive. After allowing SAS to do its thing (followed by a reboot) FF worked normally. At this time, my event logs are OK & FF is not hanging anymore.
