Norton will use different V.D.s Signatures and may not have captured it yet.
Please Submit it to symantec Security Response: http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/submitsamples.jsp.
well..
combofix is for experienced user it said
and as for submitting sample,it has been deleted
am just questioning why it cant detect ;-)
My Post should explain it somewhat.
What is the exact Name of the Internet Threat?
Unfortunately No security product can catch them all.
That's simply impossible. Symantec relies on people like us to submit the samples so they can write a sig for it.
Nobody has brung up the possibility of a FP. I looked at the VirusTotal results...its spilt, one third says its not a virus, and the other two-thirds says that it is. And one sample is detected as not.a.virus...
No security product can catch them all. You have to reach a balance between false positives (heruistics), scan speed, and response times. Symantec has gone easy on the false positives and the heruistics....
Symantec's products can catch 100% of viruses for the home users, who does not purposely download malware. As for the 1% that do, well majority rules!
finally, someone who took the time to explain..thank.
yeah i am a home user,i regularly download game torrent and all kind of torrent.
but i don think it is a false positive..because when i tried to use the thumbdrive earlier [before giving it to my roommate] ,it couldnt be opened the usual way, when i click on the thumbdrive icon in My Computer a command screen come out, Open As..so I used the folder up to access it.
After my roommate detected the trojan, and "neutralize" it,according to her ,the thumb can be open normally.
The name of the trojan I wasnt able to remember fully but it went almost like this trojan internet game wlink 32 or something..
What made me posted my earlier post was that, another classmate's computer has to be reformatted due to the same trojan noticed by AVG but AVG couldnt clear it.
That was the reason why I was worried. I do hope, this will be taken care of because i love using the new norton internet security compared to the 2006 version, now it does not slow my computer very much.Been thinking of changing but Norton has grown on me.But dont go hiding behind the mantra "false positive" forever bcoz sometime it is the real thing.
