when i try to double click on my norton 360 icon it will not open. if i right click in can get it to run a quick scan, send me to support, etc., but i cannot get my computer to open the actual 360 program with the dialogue box for scans, backup, etc., so i can't run a full scan, file cleanup, and so on. i ran power eraser on friday and it detected and supposedly removed something called "fighters" which it called a high risk, but that didn't fix my problems. anyone have any experience with what's going on with my computer?

i removed and reinstalled 360 and when i tried to open 360 it ever so briefly came up and then disappeared and i can't reopen it. i can still right click and get quickscan, support and live updates, but i can't access the master panel that allows for full scans, backup, file cleanup, etc.
as i mentioned, the power eraser supposedly removed something called "fighter" does anyone know what that is?
Since the NrnRT did not do the trick, this problem may happen if you have a third-party security product or if you have remnants of a third-party product. Uninstall the third-party security product if it is listed in Add or Remove programs or in Programs & Features. Reboot and then run the Removal Tool for that product. we will assist yu in finding the removal tool if you tell us the name of the product. Also if you were using a third-party security product and if it is uninstalled, you may still need to run the product removal tool.
Please note the above also applies to any trials that came with a new system or perhaps were reloaded during a reload of the system (inlcuding trials of a different Norton product).
Actually MalwareBytes Free, SuerAntiSpyware Free and even Spybot S & D with the tea-timer function disabled when used as on demand scanners are all safe with Norton. The Pro versions of MBAM and SAS as well as Tea-timer run in real-time and thatis the function that causes a conflict. CCleaner, just being on the system should not cause a conflict.
We are talking primarily old Antivirus and trials of Antivirus programs.
<edit> In reagrds to your question re: "fighter"- is that it? nothing more to ID what it is or more info on it??
ok, i've removed everything that i can think that may be a problem (malware protections, etc), i've reinstalled norton, run power eraser, run quick scan, and both say i have no problems. that said, i still can't upon up the full norton 360 box on my computer when i double-click. it will appear once for a very brief period and then disappear. i can right click and get to quick scan, support, and so on, but nothing else. also, i've notice that when i open outlook, the top portion that says "inbox-microsoft outlook" is in a strange bluish blurry color, as is the "file" tab. also, when i log onto the internet the page tabs are a strange fuzzy grey color. i'm not experiencing anything that i would consider performance problems, but i don't understand why i can't open norton properly or why i keep getting this nuclear glowing stuff on outlook and the internet.

anyone have any further suggestions?
Does this 'glowing' appear as some kind of overlay on all pages you visit using the internet?
If so, this sounds like something you should post in the new Malware Discussion board of this forum .
At this point, do not run any more scans or use any tools until the Malware Expert (Quads) tells you to. Read the guidelines for the board before posting.
