Trouble with pesky redirect virus in Google Chrome regardless of search engine

Hello,

I have become a victim of the dreaded redirect virus and am seeking help with this. As usual, Norton 360 has not detected any problems and the inbrowser Norton app does not catch when a search engine click is being redirected. I was going to run the NPE which the Norton Software Troubleshooter app directed me to, however after reviewing these forums it seems that there is no one solution to these particular viruses. Patiently waiting for help.

The symptoms of this virus are:

1. I'm being redirected to answer.nixxie.com and occasionally to other websites

2. Redirect virus works anytime I click a hyperlink that leads to an external website, or from any search engine

3. Currently, it seems to only affect Chrome but it had previously affected IE and also seemed to be working in conjunction with an adware which would open a second window to a uwcwau.com website (though I can't really remember the exact URL) whenever a link or new website was launched

I have tried to run a full system scan, and will attempt again in safe mode over night. I am currently running Windows Vista Home Premium, Intel Core 2 DUO T6500 @ 2.10GHz 4 Series Express Chipset Family. Not sure what further information would be needed but I am ready for any suggestions.

Thank you!

Moved to own thread for better exposure.

I too am having the same issue. Any and all assistance in removing this virus/redirect would be helpful!

Odd how it's only affecting Chrome and is not being picked up by any scans either.
