Trouble with VPN transitioning to an actual VPN region

Hello, All, I am using Norton 360 Premium on my MacBookPro, specifically addressing the VPN component.  I have an issue in that after the Norton app comes up, I select 'connect' to initiate the VPN and then open the status window of VPN to watch it proceed.  The problem is that the VPN goes through the 'connecting' phase and on to the 'connected' status, reporting the same IP address.  The status turns the text green and the app reports that it has connected, however, it still shows NO virtual region and shows the same original true ip address.  Also, when in this state, all Internet connectivity is stopped.  I have to turn off the VPN to get Internet access again.  If I go through several steps of restarting the router/modem and rebooting my Mac and bringing up the Norton app. I eventually can get the VPN to successfully connect and display a virtual region and virtual ip address, also restoring Internet access whilst VPN active.  I have worked with several techs through chat, updating and even uninstalling and reinstalling the Norton app several times. I do not want to go through that again.  Wondering if anyone else has had this behavior from the VPN product on their Mac or elsewhere? Thanks! EDIT* I am also having download speed issues with VPN connected!  Just tested and it is definitely the VPN killing off the download speed!

Hi RedBarchetta,

I'm not a Mac user so I cant help with the first part of you question.  I've asked the Mods to move your post to the Norton for Mac forum at this link

The use of any VPN service will result in a hit to your Up/Download speeds based on overhead and distance to the selected server from your location.
