(Before you suggest 2008 or 2009, I have XP SP1 so 2009 is not an option)
1. In NIS 2004 I could control what was allowed to run on individual sites. I could enter a domain and then permit or block browser info, java, script, cookies, activeX , etc.
2. I use Firefox and the Error Console pops up constantly now. It may be related to the first item above...if I could set those permissions then perhaps the error messages would stop or reduce.
3. With NIS 2004 I could block or "trust" any domain. In NIS 2007, I can "ADD" a domain to the "trust" area but there is no "ADD" function on the "RESTRICTED" area.
4. The options available when a program first attempts to access the internet are not complete. e.g. only 2 options - 1. Always Allow or 2. Block this Instance. another example: 1. Always Allow this on All Ports or 2. Always Block.
The option to maually configure should ALWAYS be available (in my opinion. The options I am given usually result in allowing more access than I want. I know I can go find the rules and change it later but I want to do it first.
5. What happened to "WebHistory" in the Logs? This is a very important statistic if you ever want to determine where you were when some event occured. How can this possibly be justified as unnecessary?
6. And what happened to the "Statistics" ? There was "Log View" and "Statistics". You could see in realtime the number of connections and what they were and you could see if firewall rules were being triggered... where is this function now?
I have already spent too much time fooling with this and now I have 5 days left to try NIS 2007 and then I gotta try something else?
