"Consumer support” somewhat frustrating; hard to have a conversation with a 100-character limit and an automated response. I have two computers; main one is currently in repair shop. So I can’t actually verify which Norton program I have, but I have its product key.
I understood that I could use that key to install it on one other computer, and downloaded it on my netbook. However, it installed for a trial period and I am now being told “___ days left” before I need to purchase it. Perhaps I mistakenly downloaded a different product than the one I own?
I had hoped a Symantec person could tell me if it’s possible to verify which product my key belongs to, whether I reinstalled the product I already own or accidentally downloaded a different one (how could that be possible if I used my product key?), and if so, can I replace it with the one I already own?
OTOH, if I mistakenly downloaded a newer product onto the netbook, perhaps it’s better to keep it and later install it on the other computer once I get it back?
Cynthia.
From what you say I guess you fell into the hands of the resident science fiction AKA Nathan ....
Instead plese try the link below to Norton OnLine Customer Support via the chat link, which is online keyboard but I don't think it has the limit you mention and they are quick and kindly in sorting out problems like yours.
To contact customer support Click on this link and work on from there. You may have to scroll down a little to see the CHAT button.
Feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems.
Keys are usually for 1, 3 or 5 PCs so far as retail purchases are concerned but Support will know what you have. You couldl probably also find out by accessing your MyNortonAccount where when you use the Download button it downloads and installed an activated copy -- but jusst bear that in mind for future use and use CHAT now.
Please let us know how you get on ....
Thanx to both of you. I will try these in the next couple of days as time allows, and let you know what happens.
I may be back for more advice if I can't figure it all out, lol.
