Turn Norton off for downloads?

Detailed description: New computer and trying to download printer driver from the MicroSoft App store (directed there by HP). Norton keeps removing the .exe file saying it’s dangerous. Should I turn Norton off and then download? How?

Yes, Windows 11 up-to-date. Norton 360 22.24.7.8.Printer works from my Windows 10 pcs. The update will download then Norton comes in and automatically removes. Says the file is a threat. Here are the source URLs. From HP’s site: Filename: HP Smart Installer.exe

Edited: Also what is the model of your HP printer? Knowing that info I can look at a few things on your behalf for some answers.

WS.Reputation.1 usually clears as Norton gathers more telemetry.
