Ubermeasure.com / ubercab*.apk identify and remove

Suspect I have adware / malware. Some app from google play store has generated an advert which appeared once, and then directs the browser to download an apk (see screen grab). I notice the browser tab gets hidden if the apk is not downloaded (which I have not done). Norton mobile has not identified any issue. I'm running Andriod 7.0 (just upgraded today) on a Nexus 5X.

Did you try the suggestions I have given? I ask as you did not reply to my posts.

Have you recently installed a recorder app, like clearmud?

What's the point of this forum if the best advice provided is from other users guessing at possible fixes?

The point is that this is s user to user forum where we all try to help each other from our experience with the products. If there is an issue where we run out of ideas, Gurus do have additional contact with Norton employees to escalate. This thread has not gotten that far yet because of lack of feedback to the suggestions.

A week has passed, and Norton staff have shown no interest at all in helping paid up customers remove malware that their product can't identify. What's the point of this forum if the best advice provided is from other users guessing at possible fixes?

Try restarting your phone. That may clear up any system cached items.

Not seeing it in Chrome. It randomly appears whilst using other apps.

What browser are you seeing the pop ups in? Try clearing the app data for that browser.

I too have had the same issue. Nexus 5X. Installed an audio recorder app from Google Play on 5th September and several times since have had this ‘ubermeasure’ popup. I have run Norton and Malware bytes and both come up clean.

Your first line of defense is to ensure you are not allowing installation of apps from Unknown Sources in your Android Settings under Security.

As no single security software will find 100% of all malware produced every day, a second opinion is often required.

You could try a secondary scan using the Malwarebytes app from the Google Play Store. It concentrates more on PUPs (Possibly Unwanted Programs, or apps). Try this and see if it finds anything on this issue.
