I cannot give permission to access a website that has a colon in it.
For example:
mywebsite.com:2088
What can I do?

To make website accessible, please add the website name without colon and the trailing digits. That is you should only add following entry under "Specific Web sites to allow":
mywebsite.com

I did that, and it shows in the list but it will not allow any sight that I have added to the list to be seen if it ends with a colon and a number.
So far it is blocking 2 sites that I want to give access to and both sites end in this way.
What can I do?

Could you please provide the following information:
1. Names of both web sites
2. Version of the browser that you are using to access these sites.
3. How are you trying to access these web sites? Do you just type the URL in the address bar of the Web browser Or there are specific steps that lead to the issue?

The following website address are being blocked. There seems to be no way to allow access to them from the allow list.
The first address is blocked after logging in to the library.
The second blocked address is directly accessed.
The web browser is Internet explorer 6 & 7 and the operating systems are XP and Vista.

Both websites, http://www.winmail7.com & http://www.learnatest.com are rated as Uncategorized.
I put both sites to the allowed list and typed http://www.winmail7.com:2095/ into an IE browser, but it gave me the following error page.
For website,
http://www.learnatest.com.dewey.phoenixpubliclibrary.org:2048/LEL/index.cfm/?HR=http://www.phoenixpubliclibrary.org, I’m not sure how you access it on the website (I didn’t see any links to the library page), so I put the whole url into an IE browser, which gave me the same error as "This link appears to be broken".
Since both sites are rated as Uncategorized, do you want to uncheck “Uncategorized” for “Check each Site Category below that you want to block from XXX” under Settings -> Web to see if it helps?

I tested http://www.winmail7.com:2095/ and address is valid for me. The other address you would have to go the learning center on the Phoenix library website and log in.
I do not want to allow access to Uncategorized Websites.
Is there no other way to allow access to this website?
When we first started using Online Family Safety it worked fine. It allowed access tothese websites without a problem once they were added to the allow list. Then recently all-of-a-sudden it starts blocking them all the time.
What changed?

Are you telling me that it is going to be impossible to allow specific access to websites that have :#### in their address?
I really like your product, but I don't understand why you starting blocking this type of a address all of a sudden.
The safety minder client does not allow or block sites based on the port number in an address (site.com:XXXX) The safety minder executes the categorization based on the site's domain only.
So to clarify, you cannot explicitly block one port and allow another. We follow the assumption that in most cases a site will carry the same category regardless of how the site is accessed. That is to say, it doesn't matter which door (or port) you access the site from, (port 80 for browsers, or port 8000 for media) the content of that site will have the same category.
To allow specific sites, you must add the domain of the site to the list of the allowed sites. In the thread, you listed the following URL:
If I take that url above and put it into my browser, it returns an error.
It looks to me like several seperate urls:
(This resolves in my browser, no problem.)
and
http://www.dewey.phoenixpubliclibrary.org
which also returns an error
and
http://www.phoenixpubliclibrary.org
which also resolves in my browser.
Based on the thread so far... you should add three sites to your list of allowed sites in the Web Supervision settings:
Please confirm if you are still having problems after adding the sites listed above.

Thanks for your response. That is my problem and the reason for this topic. Adding the domain for these adresses to the allow list does not give the user access to these domains.
First off, lets forget about the URL for the Phoenix Library because you have to log in to their site before you it sends you to that strange URL. I copied the URL that I was sent to after loging in because that was the page that was getting blocked.
http://www.winmail7.com:2095/ is a more easier to deal with. It also requires you to login, but the URL is the log in page. It is for accessing web mail.
Yes I have added winmail7.com to the allow list.
As I said before both of these address worked at the beginning, but all of a sudden they started getting blocked even though nothing had changed and they had already been added to the allowed list. I tried refreshing the house rules, but that didn't help
