Unable to connect to NIS 2010 after downloading trial

I have the same problem as others and I downloaded the trial not the upgrade. It thinks I have no connectivity - but I clearly do.  It never gets to the part where it asks me for the key.  Spent HOURS with Norton support centre - they tried basic stuff like running anti-virus - nothing came up.

Help?
