Unable to delete empty Backup sets on Norton 360 v. 4.0 - Windows Vista

Dear friends:

Does someone, please, have some idea of how to delete EMPTY BACKUP SETS made by NOrton 360 v. 4.0?

1. They are visible on NORTON BACKUP DRIVE - Folder BACKUPS ON SECURE ONLINE STORAGE!

2. OS is Windows Vista and I see and can't delet  5 BACKUP SETS. The other 2 BACKUP SETS are the "real ones".

3. When I try to delete them with EXPLORER, I receive a ERROR NUMBER and EXPLORER FREEEZES..

Some idea? I have tried to consult Norton Community, and I see some problems with this issue on other Norton 360 versions.

Any idea?

Thanky you so much,

My dear friend:

I think I've made a mistake with the "post", so if you see it twice, it's my fault!

1. First I Want to thank you for all the work and suggestions to my problem with Norton 360 v. 4.0

2. I followed your instructions and the "link" you have give me, and I saw the 5 BACKUP SETS (EMPTY SETS) that I wanted to delete.

3. But the ONLY OPTIONS AVAILABLE WERE:

A)- TRANSFER FILE

B)- TRANSFER LINK

4. AS the BACKUP SETS ARE EMPTY, there was nothing there!

And I didn't see no OPTION of DELETING THE BACKUP SETS (one by one, of course) THAT ARE EMPTY.

... So the SAGA continues!! Ha!Ha!

Perhaps I've made a mistake, but I've tried to follow your kind instructions.

Anyway, thank you very much for the trouble and work I've caused to you. I'm obliged.

Best greetings,

You haven't made a mistake, it's exactly the same for me.

Hope someone comes up with a solution ...

Are those Back-up sets listed on the main window of the bacup configuration?

If you need only 2 backup sets (we call backup-sets the fully configured /what, where, when/ backup jobs) from all the 7, delete those 5 on the main window. You can do it on the first tab on the backup configuration page's right side. There is a "link" for deleting them.

Let us know the results.

In my case, the empty backup profilesdon't appear in the backup configuration window, only in Windows Explorer Norton Online Drive and on nobu.backup.com and in either location it's not possible to do anything to them.

My dear friend:

1. My problem is exactly the some of Mr. Niels Peter Hansen.

Quoting Mr. Peter Hansen: "(... In my case, the empty backup profilesdon't appear in the backup configuration window, only in Windows Explorer Norton Online Drive and on nobu.backup.com and in either location it's not possible to do anything to themNiels Peter Hansen )

A)-  I have 5 empty BACKUP SETS that I'm able to see in WINDOWS EXPLORER ONLINE DRIVE. I try to delete them and GET A ERROR!

    B) - I can't see those EMPTY BACKUP SETS in the WINDOW of NORTON 360 V.4,  but I see only 2 "real" BACKUP SETS updated, that I use and don't want to delete, of course..

    c) - I also can see the 5 EMPTY BACKUP SETS in  < nobu.backup.com >, address suggested by PapauZ, 2 Posts ago, but I have there no way of deleting them, but they are there, EMPTY AND with NO OPTION TO DELETE THE ENTIRE SET WITH THE OPTION UNDER the RIGHT TAB.

d)- I've also tried to use NORTON ONLINE BACKUP with a TRIAL VERSION, ( Norton specific software for BACKUPS and RESTORES ONLINE).

But all was the some..

With that software (NORTON BACKUP) I can ADD A COMPUTER or DELETE A COMPUTER and the ICON WITH COMPUTER NAME APPEARS and CAN BE DELETED. But the EMPTY BACKUP SETS remain as a "joke" of the WIZARD OF OZ, maybe..

Anyway, to PapauZ end Niels Hansen, my deepest thanks. You are great persons, trying to help me!

Hello Levi & Neils,

First, it is important to estabilish if the root causes of the two are the same or different. Could you please provide me with more details about reproducing the issue? A detailed summary of the case would be great, and it atleast answer the following questions:

1. Which version of Norton 360 are you using right  now?

2. When were these backup sets first created? With which version of Norton 360?

3. Norton Account allows upto 3 devices - are you using backup in all 3 computers?

4. When did you first try and delete the backup set? Was the 1st attempt also through the Norton Drive?

5. Do you have the error code of the error you are getting? Maybe from the UI or maybe from the message center?

Gaurav. Dear friend:

First of all, thank you for your "good will" to help me! So, trying to answer to your 4 questions:

1.  Which version of Norton 360 are you using right  now?

 I'm using NORTON 360 V. 4.0

2. When were these backup sets first created? With which version of Norton 360?

Backup sets were created with NORTON 360 V. 4.O, and were created after Install.

3. Norton Account allows upto 3 devices - are you using backup in all 3 computers?

No. Only in two computers. And I only want 2 (of 7...)Backup Sets that are the "real ones". The other 5 are empty...

4.  When did you first try and delete the backup set? Was the 1st attempt also through the Norton Drive?

Fist attempt was through NORTON BACKUP MENU. As nothing was there, I tried within NORTON DRIVE ( ONLINE STORAGE) in Windows Explorer (Windows Vista)

 5. Do you have the error code of the error you are getting? Maybe from the UI or maybe from the message center?

ERROR 870,53687133. I tried after ONLINE HELP, but the 5 EMPTY BACKUP SETS still remain there, VISIBLE AND EMPTY.

And invisible through NORTON BACKUP MENU and not responding to the DELETE OPTION in EXPLORER. Window "freezes"...

I'm sorry for the long "romance", but I'm trying to be as precise as I can.

Anyway, don't worry and thanks for all the trouble!

Best greetings,

I think, some numbers in the error code you provided are missing. Please post a screenshot of the error message which you get when you try to delete the backup sets.

My dear friend:

Thank you for your interest!

I get the following ERROR when I Try to delete anyone of the 5 EMPTY BACKUP SETS, through Windows EXPLORER (VISTA).

Sample picture
Do you think I have a chance??
But, please, don't worry.
