Unable to finish Norton Family installation

Hello,

 

for more then fortnight my kid's computer is unprotected, because I'm unable to finish Norton Family instalation, which I was forced to do as NOF site was almost unusable with its popups constantly anvising me to upgrade. In the phase of instalation of "parent sign in" the app constantly says "The Norton Family server is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

 

Am I doing something wrong? I've been using Norton Safety Minder for couple of years. There were some issues, but generally I was satisfied. I felt that my kid is somehow protected and not abusing his computer.

 

Should I understand this situation as a sign of upcoming discontinuation of this product from Norton's side?

 

Are you, Norton, aware of this problem at all? I came through Norton Family part of this forum and it seems you think you solved almost all problems. But this is not true. I can't install and use NOF on any new computer nor use it on any already used computer.

 

Please, tell me, are you working or will you work on this issue or should I forget this product and search fro alternatives?

 

EDIT: NOF version now installed is 2.6.0.52

Thread recommended is now marked as solved, but procedure described there doesn't work in my case. I have no duplicate contacts nor computers in profile. In fact, now I have no computer there at all. I'm trying to add one of my test virtual machines (MS Windows XP with SP3) as I do not want to experiment on my kid's real computer. And when I try to add new computer by finishing client installation, after entering parent credentials, I'm getting the same message all the time - "The Norton Family server is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

I am having the same problem.  Followed instructions for removing devices, downloaded and installed latest software but cant complete the installation as I keep getting the message that the server is temporarly unavailable

As we were notified there are some updates on NF login or web servers, I've tried to uninstall and reinstall NF client on my test machine. The first change is, that now we do not download NF installer from NF web page directly. Now we download downloader, which then must be run and it downloads and puts installer to some directory. File downloaded this way has different size from previous version of NF installer. The name is the same "NortonFamily.exe". But this installs the same version of NF client (2.6.0.52)!!! What a mess! Do Norton programmers try to indicate, that things can be much worse then now? Do they think this is the right way, how to solve problem? To repel the rest of people, who wanted to use this service, by publishing different sized installers of the same version of client?

BTW, this "new" client behaves the same as previous. The problem with parental login persist.

thanks for posting your comments. the patch we released yesterday was for the norton family web portal. we didn't update the norton family windows client -- the latest version is 2.6.0.52.  i have forwarded your norton account information to the NF team to investigate -- i will circle back and see where we are regarding your account.

I am having the same issues. Installed client however when attempting to connect to the service, it does not recognize my ID/PW.  VERY frustrating and dissapointing. I will NOT recommmend this service to ANYONE. TOO bad Norton has not been able to fix this issue. Bad service.

Appreciate your prompt attention to my frustration however, I am giving up on Norton Family. Should I hold this lack of service accountable for increasing the risk of my kids seeing stuff I don't want them to see on the internet???  Probably not. 

This is bad......forced upgrade and it doesn't validate because there is no server or it doesn't respond.

 

Can we all go back to the previous version....????
